The display on my Dutch cd player is dying and I'd like to bring it back to life. Anyone know of a reputable repair person in/near the above mentioned area?
Thanks.

Sigmund- which Dutch cd player?
Based on a Marantz 4000. Works a treat these past 20 years or so.
I can probably do it here in Cleveland, but don't let me encourage you. The last unit I did from Pittsburgh was $300 round trip shipping and they broke it. Then I met the guy at the state border when I fixed it the second time.
If it is just the display it should not cost a fortune to fix.
Thanks for being available. I wouldn't ship it under any circumstances. I'd either bring it to you or meet you part way.
The unit is a Njoe Tjoeb cd player which is a modified Marantz 4000. I spoke with the distributor and with the builder and they both said there was no way to fix it.
What are your thoughts about that and do you have experience with Marantz units, specifically that model?
Thank you.
Progressive Electronics in Delmont. Did some extensive work on my Mac 6900 int earlier this year. Very satisfied. He's not extremely quick, hours are very limited, but the work was very good.
I'll follow the link. Thanks.
I couldn't remember the name. Used to have a phone number, too.
He was still in Dormont at the time.
Dormont, by the way, is ancient Gaelic for "traffic jam."

Same Kevin, at least that's his name. And yes, getting there sucks and the storefront is shabby and the interior...well, the work is top notch. Just remember it's close to Eat 'n Park. Godspeed.
If you refer to his shop in Dormont, it's empty now. Looks abandoned. I hope he's working from home or some such as his phone still answers with his message.
Which is fine by me.

He's fixed turntables for a couple of folks I know, including my brother. If he can't repair your CD player, he'll refer you to somebody who can.
Which is what happened when I called him about rebuilding my Hafler amp. He sent me to a guy, that guy did a great job on the amp.

He did a junior high patch job on a power cord I asked him to replace some years back. I'll give him a call tomorrow.
Thanks.
IIRC, he just repairs and rehabs turntables and farms out electronic repairs. Maybe.
I've talked to him several times, ordered a couple of belts, but a friend of mine had his vintage Marantz receiver repaired there and there are good testimonials all over the hi fi forums. My brother found a Technics TT in a dumpster, too it Galaxie for rehab. Other than the Red Ed cartridge, the deck is like new.
