This was posted in Critics Corner but not everyone reads that hot mess.
Bill Leebens of PS Audio posted on Facebook:
>is stunned to hear of the death of Charley Hansen at Ayre Acoustics.
>Charley was a true original, pugnacious, holding strong principles and even stronger opinions.
>He was also a fanatical follower of Shawn Colvin, and I was happy to have been able to get him >signed albums and an inscribed copy of Shawn's autobio.
>It's a tough month for the audio world, coming on the recent loss of Arnie Nudell.
>RIP, my friend.
Charlie was a man of opinions. You didn't have to agree with him but you knew where you stood with him. He will be missed.
My best to his family and friends. Rest in Peace.
When they discover the center of the universe, a lot of people will be disappointed to discover they are not it. ~ Bernard Bailey
Follow Ups:
His Ayre K-1xe was the cornerstone of my system for nine years, and I consider that unit the first truly high end piece of Audio gear I ever owned.
First AJ Conti of Basis passed away (the builder of my last 3 turntables), and now Charlie. It has been a bad couple of years for the builders of my equipment, and men I truly respected.
:-(
Was learning quite a lot from him, recently here on the Asylum. What a loss. Condolences to his family at this difficult time.

"... only a very few individuals understand as yet that personal salvation is a contradiction in terms."
I knew about the accident that left him partially paralyzed, but didn't know he had other health issues.
Does anyone know if it was related to the accident?

OH MY!!! I was just E-mailing with him a couple of weeks ago... Its such a bad time....Dave Wilson, Arnie Nudell and now Charles Hanson ....the world is poorer now
Does anyone know how he passed? Was he ill?
Charles Hansen has been actively participating in Asylum forums for the past several weeks and his most recent post in General was literally just a couple days ago.
He will be missed. RIP Charlie
I found many of his posts to be very instructive and well argued, even when I disagreed with his positions. And I don't think you can ask for more on a site like this one. RIP.
I am absolutely shocked to hear this. What happened? Was he ill?
