Thursday, I'm leaving to drive to LA for the LA Audio Show. I want to get as many pictures out as soon as possible. I also plant to try to make all the rooms with budget gear. What I would like to know from you is what else would you like to see in show reports. The reports will be at theauciobeatnik.com and on our Facebook page. Thanks, in advance for your advice.

Useful information.

If it sounds terrible don't blame the room!
I've noticed that the larger rooms generally sound better giving them unfair advantage. At RMAF, in addition to the "standard" guest rooms, some vendors have larger meeting rooms. The room does make a difference. But, given the same small guest rooms, some setups do sound better than others.
True, but not all asylum seekers have large rooms. If the factory with its engineers can't make it sound good, what chance do I have in my hovel?
Valid point. My room is not huge either. It was just my general observation that the larger rooms had unfair advantage at audio shows.
But on a level playing of nearly identical small rooms, some setups sound pretty bad while others were very good.
Lots and lots of high quality photos with descriptions if possible.
I agree. If one can't be there, than just dig the audio porn.
I'll be there.
See ya. Dave
I have heard that Teac and several others are coming up with new reel to reels, the first in a very long time.
Let us know!

"... only a very few individuals understand as yet that personal salvation is a contradiction in terms."
There will be newbies, who want to know how to get established with reasonable cost.
There will be experienced audiophiles, looking for solid developments in systems they already own (therefore looking for substantial developments from major manufacturers).
There will be SET/DIY types, looking for ultra-fi - and damned be the user experience, so long as the music is transcendent (sometimes me!).
There will be the emergent headphone crowd, wanting micro hifi with some tweak-ability.
There will be your vinyl types (me!) for whom analogue is the 'ne plus ultra' of audio.
There are trends in audio to report on - not just computer audio, but also the 'simpli-fi' crowd, for whom modern/retro consoles make sense. R2R or custom DACs are also a 'thing' for many.
An industry update on the debacle that is MQA would be appreciated (I am not a fan).
And let's not forget the music!

They would be of personal interest to me. The hornier the better!

Budget speakers and very expensive turntable tonearms.
Also Rethm speakers.
Cheers
Bill
I love the idea that you want to cover budget and perhaps a little higher, components. The other stuff is eye candy but is increasingly becoming silly with manufacturers purposefully trying to make very expensive gear to maximize profit to stay alive .
With your expertise in SET powered high efficiency speakers, I hope you will give a careful listen to the Rethm speakers in room 304,Voxitiv speakers in 441, Concert Fidelity with Altec type 604b speakers in room 345, and also the Focal headphones in the first floor headphone area.
PS- I am loving the sound of your old Terasonic speakers using a Fred Voltz custom type 45 tube amp. I will be at the show all 3 days and would like to say hello in person.

Can you share details of the 45 amp? I don't see it on your system page. I have a pair of Fred's push pull amps and am very pleased with them.
Clickable links would be nice ...
