Somebody started a thread about women on the forum or in audio, and I replied quite informatively. The thread is gone, and that's fine. Still, I would've liked to have read 4everyoung's reply.
And then there is the thread about the State Street Global Advisors statue placed near "Charging Bull" in celebration of International Women's Day, which is a COMPLETELY political topic. PART of the replies were deleted. That was not a "good call". Delete the whole damn thing, or keep it all, unless there was undue name-calling or profanity in a post, but to delete certain posts because they voiced real facts or opinions on the topic amounts to censorship. On the other hand, it's their forum and they can do whatever they want.
Still, it would be excellent to have a more moderated approach to keeping topics and posts in line, rather than summarily deleting them without any notice or rationale. But, hey, Rod M, FenderLover, The Bored, et al, are people, too. They make mistakes in decisions and approaches, just like the rest of us, and hopefully learn from those mistakes.

Follow Ups:
I'd tell you what I said if I could remember.
...what Rod said below.
I was actually thinking about starting a thread today about women in audio (see photo) but then thought better of the idea.

I thought Enid was crazy when she first wrote about dirty power. I could not have been more wrong. I tried to find her after she left TAS but had no luck. I wanted to apologize.
she recommended removing the telephone* from the listening room? The thought of such a small speaker diaphragm having a sonic impact in the room mystified me.
However I was friends with Jud Barber of Joule Electra and he claimed his wife Maryanne could hear the filaments in a light bulb. So she could say while blindfolded if a light was turned on or not. Just because I can't hear something doesn't mean no one else can either. ;^)
*For you youngsters, that was pre-cell phone days when we had only larger land-line devices.

It's true that certain incandescent light bulb filaments do "sing". Some more than others. If you have one which "sings", and it's on a dimmer, you can actually vary its audible output.
Now you know.
:)
I have a friend who claims he can hear ultra sonic alarms. That's why he can never take his wife shopping. Bother his ears too much.
"I have a friend who claims he can hear ultra sonic alarms. That's why he can never take his wife shopping. Bother his ears too much. "
From what I've gleaned it is not so much hearing but a sensation.
Related : Many years ago I read that they were adding AC high frequency bias to hearing aids. This after some hard of hearing reported being able to hear better in the presence of ultrasonic alarms.
I am pretty sure they stopped the process and I think I know why. Because that constant high frequency tears the cilia in your inner ear up even more, accelerating hearing loss.
ROFLMAO smart man
Nothing important. Just a question about if there's any actual women on the forum or in audio, and I wrote that I'd be interested to read your reply, and named some womem in CA who I know that are in audio.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
:)
Some folks replies made it seem as if the ONLY way the girl could be interpreted was a s a political statement. But in reality we each can make our own opinion about what ANY art means or does not mean.
I wrote I thought the girl was cute, impertinent and did I say cute.
The idea has many implications, all of them thought provoking.
And I think the 'thought provoking' part is really the most wonderful thing about the statue.
Here's the thing, now this thread is missing. The other threads I was referring to were benign like "recommendation for a good all around orchestral speaker" or something like that.
The only way I found this thread was through the search window.
Your responses showed up in my email alert but the thread doesn't show in the list, most threads newer than 4/4/17 have disappeared from my view. As I said, even this thread I started this morning is now hidden from my view.
I just looked at the delete logs and other than a couple of political posts in Central and Newey's misogynistic troll, nothing of note was deleted for nearly two weeks.

Thank you, but I figured it out already, that was exactly my issue.

As could be expected.
If you had the brief moment of opportunity to read my useful post about women in audio, you'd know that I'm right.
)
Why not start a thread about men in audio and you can tell us every thing you know. That shouldn't take long.
It's certainly a longer process than I ever would have thought possible.
Somewhat tedious as well.
Yet here we are.
