I solved the cable elevator issue. I have porcelain tile over a concrete floor. My concern is not static electricity but rather lifting stiff and heavy cables to clean under them. Additionally, nylon braided jackets attract and hold dust from the floor.
My wife shops at Tuesday Mornings and I accompanied her the other day. I bought four bathroom wash cloth stands. They have huge rings which easily accommodate the large TARA connectors and the cable weight. They are perfect for cables having separate positive and negative runs as mine do. They are heavy pieces, a good height and the right brushed silver shade.
The best part is they are only $8.00 each. They only had four in the store and I ideally wanted six. She will pick up two more for me when she next shops at another store. She goes to all of them here and elsewhere. I kept the tags on them in the event a return was necessary. It isn't!
Follow Ups:
Cool.... isn't there a high-end audio company selling cable risers that are essentially three chopsticks rubber-banded together toward the top forming the three legs into a mini tripod?
Mapleshade - home of the dinky "Clearview" power cords? :)
Don't have to worry, phhhhheww!Overpriced and over flibby-dabby-dooed, as well!

Hi Abe! I remember seeing the exact same item you describe. I just did searches on Google, Music Direct, Acoustic Sounds and The Cable Company. I could not find them.
They would never work for me. My speaker cables are too stiff, thick and heavy and have separate legs for positive and negative runs.
The stands I repurposed here are ideal for my application because the rings are large enough and the vertical support post divides the ring pass through into two halves for each cable leg for balance.
Yours is a clever use of a household item as a cost effective audio tweak. I understand it was mainly for ease of cleaning, but still clever!
I can't find those chopstick cable risers either but I recall seeing them many years ago.
The sticks were free with dinner. I paid $5 each for some imported rubber bands.

Wash cloth stands? Do they wash the signal clean, elevating your system to a new level?
Nice pics!
Same goes for the cables.
and if there are sonic benefits all the better.

Thank you. Your succint, reasonable and thoughtful comments are helpful, welcome and very much appreciated.

I think I could have taken her.
Except for the cigarette smoke. I couldn't have taken that.

or so I've read here before.
My experience supports what you've read. In my last house, the listening room was carpet on a concrete pad. Don't know what the carpet was made of (poly or nylon or what), but there was a definite improvement getting the speaker cables off the floor. Couldn't tell any difference with power cords, and interconnects didn't touch the floor anyway. In my current house, it's a suspended hardwood floor, and I can't tell any difference with the speaker cables on the floor or in the air. Different cables between houses too, so perhaps the cable design plays a factor in addition to the environment.
I could be accused of contempt prior to investigation, and in some cases that may be true. But in this particular case, I'm more guilty of trying to have a little fun, without inserting a smiley face in my reply.
These would be kinda cool...
... and the price tags? ... retained for aesthetic purposes?
My wife took the pictures before I removed the tags. I had retained the tags in the event they would have to be returned. It will please you that they will be removed today. Further, I will remove the tags on the two additional stands she buys on Tuesday before they are inserted into the system. Please do not expect any more pictures to prove this to you though. You must take my word on this!

Ya' know if you're the type that can't tolerate a little light-hearded joking you really should think twice about posting a picture of cost effective cable risers (w/pice tags attached) used for ease of housekeeping!
Oh, an' Hey! ... if by chance you just happen to have most everthing in the room covered with cellophane ... for ease of housekeeping, or whatever ... then I suggest you consult geoffkait to find out if that's a good idea ... for sound? ;)
My decor appears to be very important to you. I have provided one photo to show the lack of any plastic coverings, or "cellophane" as you put it, anywhere in or on the seating area.
I do have one concern with high back listening chairs or some couches that do reflect sound waves and give a false sense of the actually soundstage. This was happening with me with a chair I had like yours. It did sound good but I would notice a difference when I would sit up away from the backing. It kind of did what my screen tv did when it was between the speakers. Threw a blanket over it and it would stop that reflection.
The high back is not an issue because I recline back when I listen. The top edge of the chair back is then below my ears. I also have acoustic panels flanking the chair to the rear which ameliorate any reflective anomolies.
Seems to be an attempt to emulate listening situated at the rear of a closet.
Nothing like a good listening chair. Just a special feeling when you sit down in anticipation of the music.
Given the nature of this thread, I suppose it would be in appropriate to mention that the books do not appear to be in alphabetical order? :) The effect that this has on the sound is something that we audiophiles could go on and on about ad nauseam, I'm sure! LOL
I think the cable lifts look good, and are certainly a more reasonable alternative to the official, insanely expensive ones that one usually sees.
Actually the fiction to the right as you look at the shelves are all arranged alphabetically. The shelving to the left is a mixture of philosophy, religious studies and some history. These are alphabetical within their categories. I could never perceive a sound difference with any alternative arrangement.
I knew you were a good chap! :)
Hi House, looks very nice. Is that an Ekornes chair? I was just thinking about buying one.
Can you tell me how you like it? Comfort, guality etc..
Thanks, Paul
Hi Paul! Yes, it is an Ekornes recliner We have another in the living room and a couch. It is extremely comfortable the leather being soft and supple. You must maintain your alertness and focus to keep drowsiness at bay which is its only possible deficiency. It is preferable to listen to something which maintains your interest at all times!
Ah! Much appreciated.
There are only two negatives about the Ekornes. They are very expensive. Also the foot rest is just that and not an ottoman. It is not designed to support the full body weight. You must remind guests not to sit on it. The chair itself is made very well and comfortable enough to sleep on when fully reclined.
They look quite effective to me and I'm sure the WAF is quite high.
But you really do need to do some testing and let us know if your
system sounds better with or without them ...
My wife loves them and will try to get me the additional two I need in Knoxville on Tuesday. I do not expect the sound to change. My room is very inert and the floor is porcelain over concrete. No resonance or static anywhere. I think they look like great with all the equipment.

an engineer, now sadly no longer with us, suggested that cable risers should - for better sound - incorporate materials that would apply damping to the cable jackets.
So although you only installed them for ease of cleaning, you might like to try wrapping some foam around the rings, under where they support the cables ... and see what that sounds like.
Andy
I use gray foam pipe wrap sold at the big box hardware stores. Cut to length then cut a horizontal gap in the top to hold the cables. Blends well and doesn't mess with the signal. Cost is about 25 cents each.
My challenge was I needed fairly high lifters so I decided to make my own using 1/2" pvc:
cost came out to around $1.30 per lifter.
Nt
They sound like nothing you have ever heard before! I did not buy them for any sound. If they contribute any sound I am not aware of it. I bought them for ease of housekeeping which I made clear in my original post.
Our floors look similar....just wondering if you've heard a difference.....I have tried a few lifters...none make any difference at all.
I did not expect a difference. I bought them to get the cables off the floor for cleaning convenience is all.
I'm sure there are people here who would say metal material is not a good cable riser. I prefer cedar blocks.
Given the intricate construction of my TARA Labs loudspeaker cables I seriously doubt the riser material would have any sonic effect.
