It was shortly after I first started seeing the infolinks ads that my computer was infected with the ransomware virus. That's a nasty one. I'm not going to pay $25 and trust that someone else will block those ads. Instead, I bought the full version of Malwarebytes (the free trial version won't protect you) and also installed adblock plus. I haven't seen any infolinks ads since.

I don't know how Infolinks is to blame. What did you click on?
Usually, it's emails that trick people.

The Ransomware virus disguised itself as a verified Microsoft update. I clicked yes and in a split second all my programs were encrypted and I had 24 hours to pay them $500 or all my programs would be permanently encrypted. Nice people. Most pay the ransom. I refused. It had nothing to do with email. I never click on links in an email.
