Responsive web design (RWD) is becoming mandatory. Google's search engine lowers the rankings of sites that aren't, not that that's a concern for AA. Incidentally, I strongly prefer the classic view.https:// could be the next thing, since Google Chrome will be identifying sites that are not secure, and it wouldn't be surprising if their search engine rankings will take that into account as well. Presumably other web browsers will follow.

You're right, Brian.
Google has been pushing responsive for at least a year. And I just got a notice that allowing users to login without a secure link will get flagged soon.
as I mentioned several times, our first port for the beta is the Classic view. We're not looking to make crazy changes, but rather to move the code base into the html 5 standards while maintaining the core functionality with as little obvious change as possible.

I noticed today that the AA site is now flagged as "Not secure" by Chrome. AA is the only forum I inhabit that is identified in that way.

Yeah, that's Google's idea. If there's is a 'Password' dialog on a page, they flag it that way. I've bought most of the secure certificates and just have to install them and change every single link to be https versus http.
It's really not any big deal at all. See my longer explaination here"
