I have a large DVD collection, about 800 or so possibly more and the fact is I am moving, to another city and my mom is complaining about me having a lot of stuff, I have tossed some wires and some old junk electronics out, cheap speakers, junk all in one stereos and whatnot.
I also have quite a bit of Cd's I refuse to go CDless and I refuse to get a music server, or an ipod. same goes for dvds and blu rays..
I refuse to get smaller speakers, I refuse to par down my components I

Nothing as long as you like watching movies....as a sound source, DVD's are abysmal
I wonder how much gear people actually own here?
After looking at your system link, I would say you have less gear than most. My advice, buy more gear and wallow.
I only counted to Asian, and European. Which was about 400. Add inthe other larger cabinets, and i guesstimate the total at 1,500.
Most of my feature films are in skinny cases, to reduce the space needed.
Many Anime series are in space saver four disk cases.
Did your Mom knock you upside the head, or something?
Maybe that's more porn than she wants in the house.
;D
I keep them at my off-site storage facility. It's called 'Netflix'.

I need to get onboard with Netflix.
That's how long I've been with netflix.
I hate most companies I do business with. But Netflix is awesome.
I'm amazed how good streaming looks in my setup, and I have 3 blu-rays out at a time for 'big' movies or favorite tv shows.

How much does it really cost? I see their $8/mo ads. What does that include? Do you have to step up to a higher plan to get streaming AND discs in the mail?
Streaming is about 8 bucks.
If you want 3 blu-rays and streaming it's like 30 bucks. It's a great deal. You can save a little less by getting few discs, but I like 3. I ALWAYS have a disc at home to watch.
I do not have cable or satellite. News I get from the web, sports I don't care and all the tv shows are on Netflix.

I refuse to get a music server, or an ipod.
I'm a 55 year old geezer and cannot imagine not having a music server or iPhone using lossless tunes and Shure IEMs. Space is really not an issue for me.
The iPhone controls the music server, too.
Her house her rules, I assume.
Can't blame you for wanting to keep your stuff though, but perhaps a compromise like tossing the DVD holders and getting a big CD/DVD holder? At least it allows you to have your stuff, but in a smaller storage area.

I'll keep it all for you until you get a place of your own. ;-)
