Hello all,
My grandmother has recently moved to a nursing home and I was tasked with cleaning out her house. I found some older audio equipment and was wondering if you all could give me an idea of how much (if anything) it's worth. I know this is my first post here - sorry to be that new guy who signs up and asks for help. I usually post on Head-Fi but as you can imagine, that's not the ideal forum to ask about this kind of thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! The items are:
Pioneer SA-5500 II amplifier
Harman/Kardon 300B reciever
Technics SL-B20 turntable
BIC 920 turntable

Just wanted to say thanks to everybody that replied. Sorry about the belated reply, it's been busy here. I choose my username because I am fond of vintage AKG headphones. My favorite are the Sextett and the K240DF. Pretty good used bargains under $100. In terms of technical performance they can't match their modern day equivalents (the 200-300 dollar category) but there is something special about their sound modern headphones don't have.
Low- and mid-range stuff goes for peanuts.

As you can see from the other posts, this equipment likely dates back to the late 60's or 70s
and was descent gear in its time for young folks who wanted something more than a typical table radio. I would consider donating it to a charity like the Salvation Army or some other thrift store.
Perhaps this was no better a choice than Head-Fi would have been. I sympathize with your grandmother's situation. I know times like this are difficult for families, and I wish yours nothing but the best.
While I have no knowledge of the value of your equipment, I wonder whether you're aware that you can look up past auctions on eBay. After you type in your product names in the search bar and get the results, look in the left-hand column for "Completed items." Click on it, and you'll see those items that have sold--or not sold--in the recent past. No guarantees that your equipment will turn up a lot of results, but it may be worth a try. Apologies is you already know this.

System One (?)
Pioneer SA-5500 II Integrated amplifier
Technics SL-B20 turntable
System Two (?)
Harman/Kardon 300B receiver
BIC 920 turntable
How did your grandmother listen to either one of these systems without speakers? Just curious.
For those making fun of less expensive stuff, in my 20's I had an LP based system that retailed for less than $500:
Kenwood Integrated amplifier
AR-XB turntable
Rectilinear 11b speakers
So even though the resale value is very low for the two systems, it would make two lower income people happy as long as there were speakers included.
"Happy Listening,
Teresa."
...a total junk pile there. Sorry.
$75 for amp
$75 for receiver
$40 for each turntable
No pawnstars episode for you here, I am afraid.
No, A junk pile might have something good in it.
as there are people that would enjoy being able to listen to some music and this could fill that need. If it works and someone enjoys it, it isn't junk, it could be a blessing.

may the bridges I burn light the way...
...and it is doubtful the 300B or the 920 will be:
Rough estimates, one man's opinion:
Pioneer SA-5500 II amplifier: $50
Harman/Kardon 300B reciever: $40
Technics SL-B20 turntable: $30
BIC 920 turntable: $20
YMMV.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.

I'd imagine today it's about a $30 table, depends on if it has a decent cartridge with a servicable stylus, and if the table is in at least decent cosmetic shape as well as in working condition.

Oh no.....
Did you look all over? There could be speakers tucked away in the basement. Perhaps a BIC Venturi. Used to be sold with BIC turntable some 30 years ago.
Cheers

Two turntables? What, was your grandmother a party DJ? :)
The BIC, from a hifi standpoint, is junk. However, if it plays records and someone needs a turntable, well, there it is.
I'm not familiar with the Technics model number, but I would suspect that it's a decent turntable that shouldn't be frowned upon. Google it.
The Harmon-Kardon receiver is a nice find. Someone will want that. Maybe me.
Pioneer amp: Power amp only, or integrated (with input selection, tone controls, volume control, etc.)? Again, Google it.
As the other guy wrote, check completed auctions. I'd add, check current auctions.
hth
That's reasonable quality mid-fi equipment that's got good "bang for the buck." It would make great starter vintage equipment. The best place to look up values is completed auctions on eBay. Completed auctions because that shows what someone was actually willing to pay, as well as what no one was willing to pay.
Unless you have pretty good equipment you may want to consider paying you grandmother fair market value and keeping it for a while.
BTW, K240, I have K701s that I really like.
I love my K240s. Heck, sometimes I keep 'em on even with the sound muted.
