I dont know where to put this but.....
Lets just say it has something to do with my family and music/TV whatever (mainly music)
I usually listen at about volumd -26 on my system for both movies and music, the ting is that everyone seems to tell me to turn it down when it comes to music or blu ray... even if I can barely understand dialogue, I did turn the sub-woofer down and the centre speaker UP so now its better.
I usually buy a lot of Electronic Dance music Compilations and very few album the thing is everytime I listen at vol -26 DB
I get complaints about hearing the same songs over and over or the same type of sound, because a lot of Compilations contain multiple versions of the same songs on different ones or certain series have the same songs sandwitched into a mix or there is mostly a four to the floor beat.
I turned down the sub so when outside the room there isnt a ton of bass.
It seems worse if its a more hardcore artist, or music that doent have a standard melody motly a drum loop and abstract robot sounds, listen to music by an artist named Deadmau5 to see what I am talking about.
I usually prefer top 40 and radio freindly commercial dance/progressive house/electro/ trance music, like afrojack, Armin Van burren Dj tiesto, Calvin Harris NERVO, Ferry corsten, Wolfgang gartner and benni benassi and above & beyond and Paul Van Dyk... and so on
a lot of the underground stuff is so bizzare and borin...
I mostly quit other genre of music such as R&B and rap because of terrible lyrics. Tyga (a rapper) is a terrible lyricist and so is paul Wall and stuff. Young Jocs albums are so boring and his delivery so lifeless.
Once we were on a roadtrip and I put in a David guetta Album (Nothing but the beat) and My mom kept switching tracks before they started and finally took it out, she said it was crazy music that made mo sense and there was too much bumpin and that it all sounds the same.
When I listen at home and they complaint hat thy cant hear thier TV, or I listen to the same stuff over and over...
they said I wasted money on all my CDS I have something of every genre but I prefer electronic music... I like country, and all other genres but I do mostly 70% of my listening to my Electronic Dance Music CDS
I went in the living room and YES i could hear a bit of the music but I could still hear the TV CLEAR as day.
I dont see how they cant hear the TV, when I listen to music or watch Blu rays at vol -26 DB I can still hear thier TV and thier talking.
Follow Ups:
It is not possible to make an irritating sound soft enough... until it can't be heard at all.
No worry Raymond, some day you'll have your own crib and kids that you can then tell to "Turn that darn thing down." Which begs the question, will you then listen to some of the same stuff that you listen to today.
Yeah, wait till your kids start listening to something that rubs you the wrong way. You'll understand how generational differences cause familial strife. You'll be the yeller as opposed to the yellee, unless you defy the odds and perhaps like the change. Likely you'll be the yeller.
Freedom is the right to discipline yourself.
Lighten up Mikey, I was born in 1959 too. Maybe next time I am poking fun at something like this, I'll include the /Sarc tag so people can laugh at the generational irony of their own responses.

-you move out into your own apartment and the neighbors start to complain...you won't know pain until that occurs
Otherwise pick a time when your parents are out of the house (church, grocery shopping, etc.,) to blast your music. If you can't; then headphones are the ticket. If your parents pretty much stay home all the time; then study, get good grades, get through higher education and buy your own place.
(public service announcement: hearing loss is generally irreversable; whether you're listening through headphones or loud speakers).
may the bridges I burn light the way....
Noise can drive people to crazy actions.
More than a few noise fights have escalated to stabbings and shootings.. Too many to ignore the possiblility.
Most of us here are fathers past 30. We are generally going to sympathetic to the guy telling you it's house and that's the way it is.
...stay in school. Your post reads like you need it.
Secondly, if you are living in you parent's house, respect their space. They pay the bills.
Peace out....

Below is a link to a song by "deadmau5 " and the bass ( 4 minute mark ) probably vibrates the walls and can understand why family members are complaining.
I did. The main home is only for visiting and sleeping (Eating and normal things)
That might be the most equitable solution. You get the music and the volume you want. They get peace & quiet.
Just a thought.
Perhaps have your hearing checked? Maybe have your ears cleaned? Amazing what a difference it can make.
You agree you also can hear your stuff in thier area.. That is too loud.
You might try finding out what is allowing the sound to penetrate their area.
The door may need some sound deadening. The floor may need some too. Small carpets, or padding..
Are you upstairs? or on the same level?
The usual problem is the music in the background is distracting. And if the person who does not want to hear it dislikes the music, that makes it even worse.
If more than one person is complaining, I would say you are S.O.L. on getting them to just accept it.
You could also try headphones as a 'relief' strategy, when you really want to rock out and they all want peace and quiet.Noise is one of those things that can drive some folks totally crazy, so i would say you should really try to accomodate the folks complaining if you want any life at all... Even if you have to turn your room into a padded bunker.
