This is his wife Carolyn, and I am very moved by your comments. Al was a brilliant man, but very humble. He would go through the asylum every day, and loved helping you understand things and make suggestions. He never minded you asking him.
I will just say that his death was quick, he was free of pain, and he left his body and wasn't aware of what was happening the past few days. Having worked in end of life nursing, I can only tell you that he had a very good death, but all too soon.
He retired from the semiconductor industry about 11 years ago and he got to travel to such places as Antarctica, and he started reading his great books, which he collected when I first met him, and he got to enjoy his audio until the ear problem several years ago, which of course depressed him somewhat. But he still managed to go to the garage to his work bench and create these filters that are on most sockets in the house, and share tweaks with his friends, and share his great knowledge with all of you.
Thank you all for your kind words.

Being in Singapore, I never got to meet Al, but, he patiently helped me out many times.
I am most sad to hear of his passing.
From the way he treated everyone on this forum, we were his family too.
may he never walk alone

Carolyn,
Please accept my condolences. I am shocked by this sad new.
Al was an expert in audio. Every time I asked him questions here he replied immediately with great details. I also like to read his reply to other people here.
I learned much from him. I had applied his advices in my audio system and they will stay there forever. He will be missed.

Al contributed an enormous amount here (he straightened my thinking out many times!) and he will be sorely missed. Small consolation I expect, but it might help to know that his kindly wisdom will live on here in the archives. So his knowledge continues to help those who shared his hobby.

Dear Carolyn,
My wife and I send our condolences to you and your family, and embrace you and Al in our prayers. I rarely post online, but have always enjoyed reading Al's contributions here. He was obviously so knowledgeable about audio that it was always worth paying attention to anything he wrote. News of his passing comes as a shock, since I was never aware he'd been ill.
Thank you for the beautiful photograph of Al. We wish all of you comfort and consolation.

Thank you so much for the picture. Although the body is gone, Al remains in the minds and hearts of those he touched through AA and other mediums. The beauty of the night sky is always diminished when one if its' brightest lights ceases to shine. Our forum will miss him greatly.

There's no way Al would have known me, but I sure knew, learned from, and respected him. A true paragon of helpfulness and clear reasoning.

Carolyn,
Please accept my condolences. I learned of his passing on Saturday morning and the sense of loss and sadness has stayed with me to this minute on Sunday. That it does, and still will, is no surprise to me.
In our few exchanges over the past couple of years, Al was not just someone who helped me and so many others in here. In doing so, he always left me with the feeling that he would have been a great personal friend to have.
His knowledge and experience was shared with humility, thoroughness and unwavering style. We will miss him terribly. Yet, I am sure that many of us will miss no chance to keep his memory alive by branding in his name the many thoughts, tweaks and ideas he enriched us with. In my case, it has always been "Al's chokes", and so will it continue to be.
I pray and trust that the Lord will take him in his fold and give you fortitude, health and peace of mind.

considering his advice on such things as dedicated grounding. My experience with him was always first-rate to say the least. A sad day indeed

Carolyn,
I am sorry to hear about your loss and like others, was in shock. Al will be greatly missed by all of us on the Asylum. He was a wealth of information for us Magnepan users and he has helped me several times over the years. You probably now realize you have a large extended family on the Asylum that will support you. You are always welcome here.

My heart is saddened. I am a person who reads much in these forums and posts rarely. Al was a gifted person who contributed much to our hobby.
I will pray for you and your family.
