Amazing.
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

What's amazing?
That our country is falling apart or that baseball players can earn millions?
Last time I checked, Chutes and Ladders is a child's game, in which no millionaires I know are playing for pay.
They outplayed my Phillies in the NLCS, and are deservedly facing Texas in the World Series. Good luck to them!
Time for the Phillies and Yankees to retool for next year.

Go Giants!
See ya. Dave
uh, I'm a newbie here and don't want to ruffle any feathers (especially yours) but your Phillies lost tonight in game six. Would have been nice to see the Giants win on Thursday at home, but maybe winning in Philly was even sweeter. I mean, winning in front of Philly *fans* was oh, so good!
Oh well, maybe next year.
See 'ya

Peter, thanks very much for this thread.
GO PHITINS!!!
Let's Go Phillies! We are stayin' alive after Game 5 last night! :)
The Phillies are a great team, and congratulations on the victory here last night. But Philadelphia fans are the most unsportsmanlike fans in North America. Did you see the signs last weekend--'Wife cheater', 'Fat slob' etc. Very relevant. These are also the fans who booed Santa Claus and pelted him with snowballs at an Eagles game. Great team, too bad they don't have a city that is worthy of them.

and I missed seeing Jackie Robinson because I was 30 minutes late for school, I'm glad I never got into watching/playing team sports. I'd like the Yankees to win ONLY because I'm used to be a NY kid.
Speaking of Ebbets Field, one of my greatest baseball disappointments is that I never got to see a game there. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I grew up fairly close to Philadelphia, but I frankly never was a Phillies fan. And when I was about 10 (early 1950s!), I read a book, the title and author of which I can't recall, about Jackie Robinson's arrival in the major leagues. I was so taken by the story and the unfairness of the long time exclusion of black players-and the fact that Carl Furillo, the Dodgers' right fielder at the time was from my home town-that I became a life-long Dodgers fan. Well, at least until Walter O'Malley betrayed us by moving the team to LA in 1957...
I've since somewhat begrudgingly become sort of a half-assed Phillies fan, although my son, a die-hard Cubs rooter, accuses me of doing so only because they're now winners.

I grew up in Reading, PA (About 50 miles and less than an hour's drive from Philadelphia) long enough ago so that the very idea of the Phillies threatening to look like a virtual dynasty still seems improbable-if not impossible-to me!
I remember the '64 season like it was yesterday. I can still picture the World Series tickets we had when it seemed like such a sure thing. Broke my heart. Go Phillies (when it's not the D'Backs).
Only because I hate the Giants...........
The Phillies are playing on:
Pioneer Elite 60' Plasma
Mbl 101Es
Bob Carver Cherry Sevens (the ebay amps)
CJ Premier 10
and many other notables

Peter,
I'd be very interested in hearing your impressions of the strengths & weaknesses of the Bob Carver Cherry Sevens vs other tubed amps in that price catagory and higher if you wish!

Hi Tom,
The Cherry Sevens will be in a Bob Carver TAS feature article next year. They have been driving the MBL101Es for the past several weeks. So far, they're simply outstanding. Some of the best tube low end I've heard. Naturally, they give you that huge 6550 space, but it's the drive and power that's setting them apart. I'll blog about them in late November.
Stay tuned.
