I've been using the 300i for almost two years now. I have mix feeling. I am very satisfied musically -- transparent, smooth midrange (female vocal kills), and tight bass. But I had problems regarding the binding posts and RCAs. I'd sent it back for repair at least three times already. The first was a humming transformer and losen RCAs; the second was cracked binding post; the third was shipping damage from the second repair. When I finally got it back, I noticed two 1/16" scratches on the left end-cap. Although Krell sent me an replacement end-cap, but not without its attitude. Also, the transformer has been relocated from center to the left -- I guess that's due to the new chassis.

Hi,I had my KAV 300I back to factory for service too. When I got it back, the end cap(the dark metal plate)was fall off. And Krell gave me a new Amp. I am happy.
As you can see, if you checked the reviews or inmate systems, I own one of these two. You are not the first person to complain about the jacks and terminals. What do you guys do with these things? Try out new interconnects/ speaker cables monthly For me, it's just a "set and forget" situation. On a more serious note, I see you use an aftermarket power cord. Do you mind sharing your thoughts about this cord vs. the stock cord, as well as any other aftermarket cords that you tried?
Thanks, and
Good listening.
The AudioMagic SpellCaster II powercord imporves on both end of the frequency spectrum -- it eliminates the cool sounding charactertic and tightens up the bass. You can get it from www.hcmaudio.com for about $75 (listed $170). I highly recommend getting the Hubble hospital-grade plug upgrade which is only $12 extra. Also, if you are still using an el cheapo wall outlet, please do youself a favor -- replace it with a hospital-grade outlet. While you are at it, use fine sand paper to remove the oxidation on the wires before connect them back to the hosptial-grade outlet.
happy listening

I do not own but listened quite extensively to this when I was contemplating my system purchase. While I would agree that there is music aplenty from this capable unit, there were things that I could not abide. I found it fatiguing because the high treble was slightly dry and sometimes grainy and there was an overall balance to the unit toward the upper octaves, resulting in some lack of *natural* warmth. Additionally, for those expecting the famous Krell low-end wallop, you may find it less impressive, or somewhat more system dependent than you might suppose. In my comparison, in several speaker combinations the bass was noticeably modest, though musical. Maybe that's good?
Just wanted to offer a counter view of Krell's service. I have also dealt with Krell twice. Once for my 300CD and once for my 300i. Both times I couldn't believe how helpful and unrushed they were to help even though I was not the original owner of either. The only attitude I received was when the guy acted offended when I asked if I would have to pay shipping. On the 300i, I damaged it by allowing (unintentionally) the pos and neg outputs to be shorted together and turning it up as high as it would go! Didn't phase the Krell guy who was very understanding and even offered (and did) replace the RCA connectors with more heavy duty ones.
Very nice and very nice sound!
