(Well, not actually "The Ugly")
Those of you, who like me, use Windows 9x PC's, and want to create or copy audio or data CD's should be interested in this site. I have an HP 7100 at home, and use a Smart & Friendly at work. Both have problems. If I had known about this site earlier, I would not have purchased either. Goes to show that magazines and dealers may not always pick the winners - some can actually be losers due to problems.
If you get one with Adaptec software included, and have to archive large numbers of data files, make sure you get the "Direct CD" as well as the "CD Creator" software, which does music, but doesn't do large numbers of files well.
The Link is below.

I use 7200i. Works well for me. Apparently 7100 has some firmware bugs, fixed by 7200i. But 8100 is I beleave a winner. BTW, NT works well with cd-writer (otherway round actually). Still, 7200 does not burn over 74 minutes/640MB ...
I posted and ran from work - apparently the link did not take.
here it is: http://www.goldenhawk.com/support/faq.htm
and I'll try the auto-link below to see if it puts in a live link.

Dave.. I use the Sony CDU948S SCSI CDR in my home PC. I use an adaptec FW SCSI controller. I have the TEAC 32 speed SCSI CD which I use to copy from. I am currently using "HOTBURN" software to do the copies. I can make mixed CD's with no problem.. It writes at 4 speed.
I've been able to play these copies on all my players car and home. I've seen some IDE CDR setups that don't work well and have pops in various places..

The link Dave, the link??????
Interesting as I use a Yamaha both at home and work and have had no problems or complaints. Previous stints with earlier Yamaha's have given similar "no problem" experiences.
Would like to see what the website has to say.
Just an FYI for those with yamaha burners, the firmware updates are VERY important and will allow you access additional features (i.e. overburn, etc) I've got the Yamaha 4x external scsi writer and it has been flawless for all copies. Especially comps!
