Being more than half the price of Koss' Pro 4AA($60 vs. $26 retail), Model K-6s were THE 'phones serious 70s "heads" with limited budgets acquired! K-6s were rated to accept up to 60 watts per channel, with a frequency response of 10hz-15khz, and 4-16 ohm impedance! Many a 70s listener discovered, through K-6s, that their budget electronics were capable of serious bass thump! It was just being held hostage inside inferior budget speakers! Quite a few who later moved up to Pro 4AAs, and had gotten used to the Model 6s' comfortable ear seal, found Pro 4AAs akin to vise grips. Thus a rare occasion where pain wasn't worth the aural gain! Model 6s also disappeared after many a house party of that era due to their lighter weight, compared to Pro 4AAs. Simplistic as it may sound, Pro 4AAs were found in rock station studios; K-6s in recording studios. Michael McDonald can be seen sporting a pair on the backside of Steely Dan's "Katy Lied" album cover. Christian Datsun, of New Zealand's Datsuns, models a pair of K-6s in Mojo magazine's February 2004 "What Goes On" roundup. Christian was photoed in producer John Paul Jones' Jacobs Studios in Surrey, so those K-6s were probably used to monitor contributions to the Datsun's second album from J.P.J.'s amp that he used for session work on Tom Jones' "Delilah" and Shirley Bassey's "Goldfinger", as well as a borrowed Jimmy Page electric guitar(as reported by Nardia Plumridge)! Model K-6s were also badged as Realistic Custom Pro Headphones!
