Somebody put in his post a link to Joly speakers manufacurer from Taiwan. OK, he was kidding about some strange (but looking classic) "hi-end" speakers placed near PC monitor or so. Never heard of them, until now. I suppose somebody start here, in AA, a discussion about these speakers before. Can somebody redirect me to that?
What about http://www.joly.com.tw/3.htm?
Please read notes (a,b, and c) from the end of web-page. These speakers can be so good as they claim? Somebody knows (i.e. own or listened) to Joly speakers?Drq

The best post ever award goes to Scott Dorsey for his post in 1995,
"Roly-Poly Speaker."
Joly several years ago used to come to the CES show. They had the same claims about being the best speakers with all kinds of awards. The reality was that there speakers were very poor sounding. I would not consider them a quality speaker at all. Again just my opinion.
the ad is pretty shakey.. way too much hype. could be they don't understand marketing over here at all, but there are some signs of doubt.. eg, they claim an equivalent speaker to one of their lower end floor standers would be a usa/european made speaker costing $10K, whereas theirs is only $1.8K. that kind of marketing is bad enough, but then ck the weight of that speaker. it's under 20#. have you seen a $10K floorstanding speaker of any merit that weighs in under 20#? my tyler acoustics are 35# each and not large. floorstanding spendor s6 or the tyler 7u's weigh much more. maybe there are some lighter, decent speakers out there, but it seems that for the size, that joly box would be pretty flimsy and the magnets pretty small. i think you're right to look for an informed second opinion, at least.
