Hi,
In my quest for an integrated unit (pre-amp, amp & CD) for my small office, I've found, listened to & enjoyed the NAD L40. Does anyone else make something like this? I would mind a side by side....
Follow Ups:
I always thought that Denon mini-systems are terific sounding units. I suspect that the NAD may have a fuller sound judging by an old NAD receiver, and should have higher reliability as well. The Denon come with Mission speakers that make it a real value package.

The Linn Classik is an all-in-one unit such as the NAD L40. I actually bought one for my second system, and couldn't possibly be more happy with it. I paired it up with a pair of Tyler Acoustics Reference Monitors, and the sound is amazing. Also, Classe just came out with an all-in-one unit as well, but I haven't read any reviews on it yet.
A small office would never do it justice. If you do get it, though, look for Tukan or Katan speakers, which are often listed on Audiogon for about $500 and $700 respectively and are a perfect match (as are the old Kan speakers).
In a work environment (outside your home), I would have to agree. You would generally never be able to listen to it at a high enough volume to hear the major differences to justify the price. Most of the time people just get something to have as background noise to help them work. However, I actually bought my Linn Classik/Tyler Acoustic Reference Monitors for my home office. I found I listened to my equipment in my home office more than I did in my main room since I spend the majority of the day there working. This is the reason I ended up going a bit overboard with the setup for my office space.
In addition to why I ended up buying it, I actually got a great deal on the entire setup. Just before Linn recently introduced the new Classik (with the inter-room connectivity) I ended up picking up a brand new Classik for only $1000 delivered (basically half off.) The Tyler Acoustics Reference Monitors were also an incredible bargain. A gentleman down the street from me was getting married and selling his entire setup (I mean everything - although I didn't ask why), and had only just bought the speakers 2 weeks earlier (I confirmed this with the invoice.) For $1500 (Retail $3200) and no shipping or tax to pay plus it included the stands and a premium finish - I just couldn't pass up the deal.
I still need to work on getting some better speaker cable as the Linn speaker cable isn't that great. It's been a pain however as the BFA connectors tend to limit your options unless you terminate it yourself.
Regards,
Eric
Chris VH's CAT 5 cables work nicely with the Classik. I made them and they're a big improvement over the supplied Linn cable.

How about Tara Labs RSC Prime 1000 or Linn K400?
