I have a hi-end single CD player but need recommendations for a changer to play music while working. Thanks for your assistance.
Follow Ups:
I have the Denon DCM-370, and at $250, it's an excellent CD changer. Others I would recommend are:1) Sony CDP-CA80ES: At $430-500, it's an excellent CD player. Good build and sound quality. The Sony ES five-year warranty is a definite plus. I have two 'CA80ES units in my house and have been thrilled with the performance.
2) Sony CDP-CA70ES: About half the price of the 'CA80ES. The 'CA70ES isn't built quite as well and doesn't sound as good as the 'CA80ES (comparing internal DACs), but the for the price, the 'CA70ES is a good player.
3) NAD 523: I have little experience with this player, but it is well regarded. A local dealer sells it for $320, and I was very impressed with the construction. The carousel drawer is very smooth.
4) Marantz CC-4000 and CC-4000OSE: Both changers are well regarded. The '4000OSE is built better and is an all-around better player, but is $400, whereas the '4000 sells for around $250-300.
5) Sony SCD-C333ES: If you are going to spend more than $500, this is the player I would get. Build quality is superb and you get SACD. The 'C333ES is a great CD player too. While it lists for 1200, Oade Bros. (1-912-228-0093 or 1-912-228-4480) sells it for $800 delivered. They are an authorized Sony dealer.
You definitely have choices.
Thanks a lot for recommending Oades. Spoke with a very friendly Jim Oades who sold me an CA80ES at a good price. ttyl.
Great info. Thanks a lot.
ttyl.
Sonic Frontiers used to sell a 5 disk tubed changer that was excellent. You might have a hard time finding one but that is what I would get. Try Kevin at Upscaleaudio.com as he might be able to locate one for you.
The product is in the Anthem line. Same company, different name.
The noble Irish hero...I have a friend who loves the Denon previously mentioned. I also would check out the new Arcam changer, the old model was very nice for the money and the new one is supposed to be better.
Were that I had coined it. The hound of Culann the Smith is its meeaning as you probably know:) The stories (from the Tain Bo Culange) are quite wonderful. And thanks for the info... ttyl
The Sony SCD-C33ES five disc super audio compact disc changer. There's a very good review of it in one of the mags.
We have the older version C69ES in our dance studio, -a very good, reliable work horse.
Denon DCM-370 5 disc changer, it features dual Burr Brown dacs and has a warm engaging sound. Spidergear.com sells factory refurbished units w/ Denon warranty for $150. The owner is really cool and will refund you if you don't like it.
I believe one of the best sounding cd changers for 300 dollars is the Denon DCM-370. Burr Brown DACs and HDCD. I love mine.
California Audio Lab CL-10: full body
Just buy the cheapest one with the longest waranty.
the Sony CDP-CA70ES. It retails for $300, but Oade Bros. sells it for $215. They are an authorized Sony dealer. As an ES product, the 'CA70ES comes with a five-year warranty. I have two CDP-CA80ES changers in the house, which are a step-up from the 'CA70ES, and they are excellent CD players. For the price, the 'CA70ES is very good.
