I have a Micromega Drive 2 that exhibits occasional skipping. I'm told that this is a common problem due to problems with lubrication of the 12.4 drive. Does anyone know of a source where I can buy replacement Philips CDM 12.4 drives to fix this?
Thanks,
---Gary
A buddy and I had this same problem awhile back. Relub was the answer. bobwire
Would you have any suggestions on the best way to relube? Thanks in advance.

That's a question I'd like answered too, since I also have a Drive 2 which at the moment is OK.
However, from brand-new the tray made horrid grinding noises until I squirted some WD-40 underneath it; now it's quick and quiet.
My problem with the Micromega is that it's secured by those awful Torx or whatever star-shaped fasteners, so I can't get inside it.
Do car accessory places do Torx drivers?
All the tools you ever need...www.techni-tool.com.....www.mcmelectronics.com also has TORX...there is nothing AWFUL about TORX, they in fact solved problems, like stripped heads that can't get removed....
I think I got mine (for extracting CDs my Stage 3 was eating) at the local hardware store
