What Amazon calls HD is plain CD quality, 16 bit / 44.1 kHz
As it is lossless compression , the bitrate is 850 kbs.

Thanks for posting the link. Good info there on Amazon Music. Looks like HD is CD quality as you mentioned, but it appears that they also have "Ultra HD" content up to 24/192 "hi-res"The FAQ says:
"At this time Amazon Music HD is not supported on Chromecast."
I'm not sure how current this information is but Google makes Chromecast for video and audio but they also made Chromecast Audio [an audio only device, now discontinued].
I have a couple Chromecast Audio and they support up to 24/96 and play well with Roon. I can stream Tidal and Qobuz via Roon to my Chromecast Audio, output via Optical TOSLINK driving a couple powered speakers. Although Wifi is not ideal, these pickup Wifi much better than the Raspberry Pi's.
