Can you please list all the costs associated with anything involved in the streaming - devices, monthly fee etc. TIA

KellyG 's Raspberry Pi cost is very close to what I paid for my RPi based streaming hardware. Of course, this is just one piece of it. You might need a music server or NAS with your ripped music on it somewhere unless you plan to do that on the RPi as well. Having a home network is also assumed.
If you want a streaming service, Qobuz is $15/mo and Tidal is $20/mo.
1.) Rpi Model 4 - Around $60 for (4GB of Ram2.)
2) Power Supply -$10
3.) Micro SD Card - Should be 16GB at least - Small around $5
4.) Case -- Around $20
5.) PiCorePlayer Software-- Free
So for around $100--a Digital source of amazing quality!
Topping E30 -$130 (I got mine for less used)
Monthly Qobuz - $15 (less than the cost of a single CD)
Raspberry Pi if wanted instead of a cable - $100 for everything needed and then some.
My setup sounds better than anything I've ever had and the music is virtually unlimited.
Do you need a separate power supply or is usb power okay? I don't see a wall wart in with the dac.
you can use usb power, that's what I started with. It comes with 2 USB cables, one for power with a tip and one for data with a micro USB. Since I use battery power from an Anker charger ($25 if you don't already have one) it only occurred to me a few days later that the charger has 2 ports, so I plug my RPi into one and the E30 in the other rather than taking power through the RPi. It worked both ways and I can't say it sounded any different.
I have a linear 5v supply that I haven't tried yet, an iFi iPower, and a whole bunch of generic switching supplies. I'll give them all a try at some point but battery was my preferred method when I used an Allo Boss on my Pi.
