I am having to rebuild my system piece at a time. 3000 cds were stolen, my Carver amps are gone. Along with my rega and Linn turntables. But the thief did leave my large vinyl collection. I have secured a Parasound amp, and some Kenwood and Marantz stuff that ain't quite what I had stolen. I play my vinyl on a Pro-ject turntable which is adequate but not like the Linn.
I am now retired and and ready to start over. I don't think much of compressed music but I want a good bluetooth to play streamed music because I will never be able to replace all of my best cds. I have tried a couple but most have been miserable.
I am looking at Auris Blume or Audio engine B1. Are there any better than these?
Follow Ups:
I have the B1. I use it to stream from Spotify, Amazon etc. in a system set up for my work out room. It works well and a quality unit, it does support Aptx. You have some settings in the apps for streaming to increase the bit rate but it's still mp3, the sound is still surprisingly decent. You could try streaming from Tidal which has a "hi rez" option, it's at least CD quality from what I hear. I just use my iPhone as a source, Apple does not support Aptx, if your device does you may even get better results. If buying direct from Audio Engine you get a return option.
That is horrible to lose your system like that, a real nightmare.
The rest of the system is an Emotiva USP-1 preamp, I did have a Threshold amp but currently a Coda is in there and Artisan speakers on the wall, with a sub.
A horrible story.
If it must be Bluetooth have a look at APTX
It is also a lossy codec but is sounds a bit better than the standard SBC codec
APTx HD is even better (lossless 24/48) but is very new hence products are rare.
As APTx is a non standard codec, the sender must support it as well.
An alternative might be Chormecast Audio, it does 24/96 max.
In both cases, if you do have and amp with digital inputs or a DAC, look for a receiver with digital output (SPDIF)
Most DACs can cope pretty well with input jitter.
Part of your disappointing results might be the quality of the analog out of Bluetooth receivers
I don't know what your streaming sources are but if it is about the usual suspects a Auralic Aries might be an alternative.
