I'm looking for a bluetooth DAC to interface my Android phone to a '80 Pioneer receiver in the $50 dollar range. It will be used in a small 9' x 11' listening room.
(Currently I'm using the headphone out to the receiver's Aux input.)My top three contenders are:
Nuforce BTR100 _ $63
StarTech.com BT2A _ $54
Monoprice Home Theater Music Receiver (Same as StarTech in different case) _ $50Any experiences with these, or any better recommendations in this price range?
For the record, if I had a better stereo with a larger budget I'd consider these:
Auris BlueMe _ $170
Audio engine B1 _ $190Thank You,
Mike

What about Chrome Cast audio?
As it uses WiFi instead of Bluetooth, all the audio is streamed lossless

I haven't really investigated Chrome Cast audio. Do you know what resolution it supports (bit depth and sample rate)?
I have AppleTV boxes around the house for casual listening and I -think- the older gen units support up to 16-bit 48KHz but I'm not quite sure now with the latest gen 4. I find them to be more than sufficient for casual listening.
On the other hand bluetooth seems dull, compressed, and veiled.

Good info. Thank you!
I just began looking into it. I'm pretty sure that my favorite ap, JazzRadio.com supports Chromecast Audio. If it does, I'm in. Would it offer better sound than from my phones headphone jack to my receiver?
Yes the sound should be better with Chromecast Audio than using your phone's headphone jack into the receiver ( subject to the point that I make on data rates below).
In general Chromecast Audio may offer a higher sound quality than plain vanilla Bluetooth as it caters for higher resolution sources. However this may be of little significance with streamed internet radio as the data rate may be limited and will not exceed the capabilities of either choice. The same question and the general output quality of the station per se may also impact upon any subjective improvement of the Chromecast Audio or Bluetooth device over connecting via your phone's headphone socket.
