I am not one of those serial 'upgraders'. I tend to keep my equipment, until or unless there is a somewhat clear path to upgrade to, and I can 'afford' it. Been through some 'changes' lately that others may find interesting.
To make a very long story short, I was in t-amp land with my maggies and my Transporter and all was well for some years. Cables were fine with Audioquest, and Silver Bullet interconnects. Did some tweaks on the maggies crossover, and caps etc in the t-amp. Well crap, I succumbed to the tube itch and bought a tube preamp kit (bottlehead). That 'changed' everything. My t-amp was shown up as being the lightweight that I knew it was so the upgrade impulse continued to the Emotiva. Very nice move, all is good. Well, not sure exactly what moved me to get a JPS labs interconnect, but that changed everything again. That led to JPS speaker cable and one more interconnect pair for the preamp.
Well, crap again, The JPS wire has exposed my tube pre for what it is. Out it goes, now Im taking a hard listen to the Transporter as preamp. Quite nice indeed. I ruled it out some moons ago that was before the above changes.
So, the Transporter survives to live on! Thats some goood kit!
Follow Ups:
Dont stop now, get the JPS labs digital ac power cord. I have 4 of them just for my music computer alone! Well worth the money.
My diy cords were great but not as great as the jps. I bet your transporter would benefit.
Afterwards we discovered faith; it's all you need
yep - I got one of those on the Transporter. Funny thing is, I bought that years ago not long after I got the Transporter. That was my first JPS labs purchase. As I remember, the digital power cord made 'some' difference. It was not huge. There was a darker background. A bit better definition. The interconnects made a much bigger impact IMO. Good stuff.
Was it jut one??
See I bought a whole system of power cords and put them in at the same time.
2 of the amp cords t of the digital cords and 4 of the entry level.
It was revelatory, though I could see on just being so so
This was with dedicated lines

Yep it was just the one. At that time my amp was running on battery. My tube amp is also battery but I didnt have it yet. Now I have a good MIT cord on my Emotiva. I like that cord alot. I used to be a cord skeptic so I have come a long way! I do like the JPS labs stuff. I'm from that part of upstate NY as well, so I have a certain loyalty to the esoteric audio brands from that neck of the woods. Something positive, from a pretty depressed area of the country.
