My brother in law's player has intermittent hissing. He brought it to the store he bought it 10 years ago and are charging him $1000 to repair it.
What would you recommend for a brand new player or transport/DAC New costing about $1000. What do you think of the OPPO 95?
Thanks in advance

I would definitely look also at used players in excellent condition, but yes, for $1000 new, the Oppo is probably the best option.
I have one for my video system, and I do play from time to time a CD on it.
It is excellent. Compared to my Sony CDP-XA5400ES, different but in the same league. A little bit less 'smooth', but a little bit more detailed.
Does Arcam still build a top-of-the-line FMJ CD player?
I know it used to be the FMJ 36.
Don't know, but why?
I own and like the Teac-PD H600 a lot. TAS gave it a thumbs up as well about a year ago.( for what it's worth ) Can be found for $699 shipped
No experience with it, but judging by this review, not a bad deal at $600. Looks pretty good, too.
Of course, there's also Marantz SA8004, that seems to be one of the current budget favorites.
