for the DV-50

Well, I was looking for a higher end cd player then what I had. I was just using my pioneer dv-47ai for 2 ch. I said "alright time to bring this up a level". I was going to look at the CD3. I called my audio advisor and just asked him about the DV50S as a cd player. He just said get it. That was it. It is massive looking. It weighs 47 pounds. I read all of the reviews and even contacted the reviewers directly and through that process I realized I had to check it out. So I went to listen to it. It was very pleasing to me. The entire spectrum just sounded correct. So I got it home and compared it to my pioneer. Not even close. The pioneer sounded dry and lifeless. I used the balanced connections. The Esoteric sounded clean crisp with good balance all around. I really like the way bass sound from my speakers now. On SACD's it sounds real good. On XRCD's it just sounds incredible. And it plays DVD's to boot. I can't explain it any better then saying that it just put a big grin on my face when I listen to it.

Product Weakness: price, maybe, but I got a good deal.
Product Strengths: It just sounds right to me. Smooth and detailed. Very good DVD playback as well.
