He played on LOTS of other peoples' records, probably uncredited on many of them.

Joel Najman on Vermont Public Radio did an hour-long program last week on Jimmy Page's studio work. When Donovan went electric, he brought Page with him (so to speak) -- and Page plays gee-tar (credited as "lead") on the 'OO's I Can't Explain . Page has been quoted as saying, in essence, he didn't know why he was even there with Townshend's playing.Oh, and he's strumming (if memory serves) acoustic rhythm guitar on Pet Clark's Downtown (now possibly scarred forever after the Christmas Day events in Music City, USA).
