Who is Jana Dagdagan? Very nice name.

Jana - a millennial woman, for all those who accuse Stereophile as being
the preserve of old men - joined us a year ago as our editorial assistant
and has developed into a talented videographer, heading up our production of
video content. You can find her blog and her videos at the link below. Her
best work yet was her video profile of Herb Reichert - scroll down the
linked page.

Thanks. I enjoyed those fine videos, especially the talk that a Professorial( Philosophy) JA had with the Vivid designer. A bit disappointed the speakers were not played for couple of minutes at least. Looking forward to future works of Jana.

I hear you. The problem is that YouTube rigorously polices videos for
copyrighted music. If we include music for which we do not own the
copyright, it gets flagged as a violation.

As I understand it, when a video is flagged as copyright violation, until
an appeal is submitted and judged upon, the revenue generated by that
video goes to the copyright owner, not the creator of the video. As any such
appeal might be successful only a relatively long time after the video has
passed its "sell-by date," and as Stereophile's ability to do what it does
depends on its content generating revenue for itself, not for third parties,
that rules out our using copyrighted material in our videos.

That's correct. Our ability to offer free website content, including videos,
is critically dependent on that content generating revenue. Less revenue
means less content. Where we have permission from the rights owner, we
do include copyrighted material. See the record review linked below, for
example.

We'll just have to start making our own music. :-)
