Yesterday I received my order of the Mogami W3104 speaker cable (I got it right this time!). I started to build for a single run bi-wire config but change my mind and did a single run with the Rhodium Spades from Furutech. I used my jumper bars which are made out of copper and something else that came with the speakers. The first part of the speaker cable build went very well until the second part of putting on the Rhodium spades. Now I know what Duster and some of the other people were saying about the set screws, I had two strip on me. The problem is when you use a wire of this size (two 12awg together) the wire can barely fit inside the spade connector you have to twist to get it in there, you have a very hard time getting the set screw to get back in the threaded hole correctly and that's where the problem begins. I figured it out how to make it work with out stripping the thread on the connector and not on the screw. Both of the strips were on the spade side and the set screws were fine cause I used them in the other spades to make sure.
Once the set screws were starting to screw down, I got a firm tight connection without stripping from over tightening.
Now for the good part, I put the Mogami's in and let the system warm up before I started to sit down and listen. I put on some newer Lee Ritenour and Stanley Jordan tunes through my Bluesound Node 2i, at first I thought I forgot to turn the amp on due to it being so quiet but it was on. The music started to come from a dark background and soundstage was big, the bass was way better deeper with mids sounding good and clear.
This is not a review or claiming a bunch of things yet. I just reported what I noticed first. They have been breaking in for a day now and I will report back on Monday how they sound then.
I totally forgot I had the Mogami Interconnects already connected to my Crown amp. These are the Mogami Gold and I have used them with my system for a while, so I will get and chance to hear the Interconnects along with the speaker cables.
back to the Furutech Rhodium spades. I am very disappoint in these spade quality. A spade costing this much should not have stripped like that. I did was aware that if you tightened too tight it could happen so I was very careful when these two screws stripped out. This to my experience with these spades now is if you are going to try to use Two 12awg together, make sure to back the set screws out but not all the way out. Just enough so you can get the wire in and start to tighten to when the screw tightens enough to not let the wire come out on a little pull test but don't over tighten either. There is a fine line between those two methods so be careful when using these spades. They are great when using for gauges under what I mentioned above, no problems at all. The trick is just don't back the screw all the way out and you will be fine when using that big of wire. :)

Hi Cougar,
Glad to hear those Mogami cables works well in your system, but sorry to hear about those Furutech spades. I agree, for the price for those, they should be more robust - I wonder if it is expected to solder the cable ends before applying the set screw. They probably don't expect such large gauge wire to be used either.
with soldered end. It has to do with the beginning threads on the spade side just is too loose and continues that way through the threading.
I This happened on the last spade and screw on the first cable and on the second spade on the beginning of the second cable build. Then I actually saw what was really going on and made an adjustment. I didn't mess up anymore after that.
Cables are still changing, I left to run errands this morning and just got back. The cables are really starting to open up now.
I made a pair of these in the biwire configuration about a year ago, also made pairs of interconnects. Still loving them, as nice as any of the expensive stuff I have had before.
