I don't understand using a 2 wire cable with a 3 pin connector.
Would you elucidate please?

I made an AES/EBU cable with 3 CCC vampire wires braided and I like it--proud Papa etc
Follow Ups:
Since a twisted pair is all that is required to pass the signal, I find the third pin to be unnecessary, A simple twisted pair provides better signal purity, IMO. There are some cases in pro audio that require and/or benefit from a ground wire, but I don't think it's necessary for a typical home audio application, especially for an unshielded balanced cable application.
