Kimber's Varistrand design features fewer multiple gauge wire strands for resonance control and they are not individually insulated like Cardas' true Litz wire with more multiple gauge wire strands for resonance control.
Follow Ups:
is it a varied multiple awg? or just multiple of the same awg?
Various gauges are grouped into a bundle for each leg. The ratios are determined by the designers, such as the golden ratio in the case of Cardas. The purpose is to reduce the resonant nature of a Litz wire bundle, which by nature Litz wire tends to resonate within a stranded bundle when all wires are of the same gauge.
