Hi everyone!
I was browsing EBay and saw these KK cables from a seller based in Hong Kong. Is it possible that these are not genuine Kimber Kable cables?
Thanks,
Dan

To me they seem, from the picture, a poorly
made cable, not up to Kimber Kable standards !
Shrink tube looks shabby !
Best you contact Kimber Kable.

There are a number of Japanese, German, and American brand name items listed by the eBay seller with prices that are way too good to be true. I would seek verification of authenticity before spending a dime, but since such a thing is near impossible to prove via eBay, I would pass on purchasing brand name items from the seller.
If that's the case then they're a deal.
If not then they're fakes. I'm not sure the counterfeit cable market is big enough to have dedicated production of phony cables. Those that are sold are usually overuns of the genuine product.
As for American cable manufacturers making cables in China with what amounts to slave labor and then selling them in the US market with huge mark ups, what goes around comes around.
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
.
Just look at Kimber's home page. They have had problems with fake Kimber products for some time now, and apparently have even cracked down on unauthorized U.S. web dealers as well, as there are currently very few that handle their products anymore.
So long, and thanks for all the fish! :-)
I am not commenting on whether that ebay item is genuine or not. As always, when a deal is too good to be true, it probably is. So buyers beware.
However, having lived in Hong Kong for such a long time and having dealt with China regularly, I can tell you that while you can get fake stuff in Hong Kong, it is also one of the more vibrant hifi markets out there, where you can get all the good stuff from almost anywhere around the world. And when you are shopping for hifi from hifi or electronics dealers, there is almost zero threat of getting fakes (if you are trying to get Cardas cable from a hardware store (like some of those on Apliu Street as mentioned by the other poster), I can't say the same)
I would probably be quite a bit more cautious with Mainland China, as there are a lot more fakes produced there. The good thing is that, most fakes are quite low in quality and can be easily spotted if you know your stuff. Mainland affluents now often travel to Hong Kong to buy hifi (and handbags, medicines, baby formula, etc.) for that peace of mind that they are not getting fakes.
Again, I am not trying to say whether you should trust or not trust anyone from Hong Kong or from China. White vans are white vans, and they can be anywhere. I am just saying that perhaps further thoughts should be made before slamming a verdict on a whole city or country.
Cheers
True Hong Kong has great stores, great stuff ,and great audiophiles.
One would have to KNOW the territory and shops there to know what is what.
And the likelyhood the cable is fake is very very high.
Tons of fake 8TC and Hero, and I bet a lot of KCAG is fake too.
Even from California..

in Kowloon on Apliu Street and Mong Kok, you can find lots of fakes, Furutech, Kimber, WBT and Cardas mostly. Cheaply priced brand name products only exist in the mind of the buyer!
Please note though: I will be listing some Louis Vuitton speaker cables soon, made in china, of course.
China/HK is the land of "Clones", what ever you find in the rest of the world of value, you will find cloned in China.
Of course cloned only in appearance.

So the seller is in Hong Kong selling them cheap. Like he spent the money to buy them from the USA, and paid the shipping to Hong Kong, and then out of the goodness of his/her heart. is selling them below the usual used price?
Bullshit.
They are fake.
