Anyone try the Purist Musaeus Speaker cable with ESLs like Quads? I'm enjoying the Musaeus ICs and am considering making the jump to the Speaker cables too. I'm currently using Nordost Flatline.

Joe, what power cords are you using for your Electrostatics if you don't mind my asking?
I've used off the shelf computer PC's, Purist Musaeus, DIY VH audio and Acrolink. Frankly the changes were small but Acrolink seemed best to me not sure if worth the cost.
On other gear both the Purist and Acrolink were a huge improvement.
If you don't mind my butting-in, I've had good results with the Blue Circle Audio BC-68 power cords/conditioners on my 989's. Haven't tried any others because I'm been very pleased with them.
The one depicted is the original version and the model I have.
Something to consider.

I've alway just used the cheap $99 Shunyata Venum. Power cords on ESLs shouldn't matter at all because I don't think the speaker "sees" the power. You can test your power cord by actually unplugging it and playing music and seeing if you hear a difference. I never have, so no reason to upgrade.
The only comparison I've made has been between the stock power cord that came with the 989's and the BC-68 power cord. The difference isn't subtle and I prefer the Blue Circle cords. Everyone's preferences are different.

It also might be a difference between the 989 and the 57s. But I'll be on the lookout for the BC68s to give them a try :)
Not sure how helpful my answer will be.
I have Quad ESL 988's but have not used Purist speaker cables on them.
I use mostly Purist RCA's and some PC's. To my ears Purist is "right".
I heard several newer Harbeth speakers and gear I know well over several years with Purist speaker cables including Musaeus. In those the results were very close, I liked the sound, truly lack of a house sound. Very quiet musical and orderly. If you were to buy Musaeus or better speaker cables used most likely you could get your money back if for some reason you don't like them. I hope I don't sound like a salesman for Purist but I honestly think they sound good.
I own Auditorium 23 speaker cables have Harbeth LS3/5A's, Quad ESL 988's and some vintage speakers. The Auditorium 23 speaker cables are very sweet cables too.
Thanks for the advice. I'm testing out a set this weekend. Of course the Auditorium are top on my list but the price is a little high for me right now, about twice that of the Purist.
Purists Musaeus are better than the Flatline in every way. I've been listening for two days now, switching in the Flatline for a couple of hours to compare. Flatline sounds great but the Purist just allow more music through. Wider soundstage. Deeper soundstage. Definitely more bass and just more of everything. Lower volume listening is much more pleasing too. I think the biggest difference is the way the drums decay. It's like you can hear the sticks bouncing off the drum now. More elastic. I think these cables are definitely worth the $550. Hopefully I can get something for my Flatline to ease the pain.
