I just looked, and I remember the 4 meter was a hundred. Now it is $150.

Not freakin' suprising is it.... what, with you spewing endlessly how they're better than sex an all !!!
I have a Pangea power cord, but if you think it is better than sex, you are not doing it right!
Dave
Exactly.... explain that to the chief hustler of these cables, but then again, if she's using them as part of an S&M kit, maybe she knows something we don't !!
What's this 'we' shit, Coolhand. Seems to me like you might be a bit of wanker with that post. I replaced the factory supplied cords on my active speakers with these cords you loathe. Thought I heard a phone ring listening to Kind Of Blue and for a second I was gonna anwser it til I remembered phones don't sound like that anymore. Deep in the mix, sumbitch sounded real. Music sounded more effortless on an onsite recorded opera record I listened to before that. Colors a shade more vivid and sounded like there was more separation of instruments in the sections. Plus, the orchestra sounded more cohesive as a whole. Smooth as a baby's butt, too. That was day one, yesterday. Haven't used the Venom's but I like what I'm getting so far. Music to these ears, white bread.

Dude, you be tossing yourself off, I never stated I loathed these cables & I don't get down with smooth babies butts or white bread either, but if that what gets you off.....go answer that phone
Ok, I've had the Pangea 9's attached to my active speaks for almost a month now and can confidently say that top to bottom the music sounds more lively and available. Unchoked. Didn't realize it was but the more I have listened the more dynamic ease and abundance there is. These replaced factory supplied PC's that were probably thought to be all that was needed in the day. The first hard hit cymbal splash on So What from Miles' Kind of Blue got my attention right away. It's spray was more expansive with a finer filagree of information, for example. Bass was more robust and satisfying. I'm supposing that there is simply more current available. Very nice purchase for me. Gracias.
My post was not really meant as a slight against Elizabeth. Actually I enjoy her posts. I was just trying to make a joke.

Your excessive shilling is really out of hand. I read that someone made them stink less by replacing the horrendous molded plugs.
I can say they are a very good value.

In ALL applications, both the AC-9 and the AC-14 were the worst cords I have tried -- even worse than the stock cord. On music, they are sluggish and ruined the sound, on video, they make the picture less well definied and wash out the colors. The only redeeming quality I found was in the AC-9, which had excellent low end extension. As I said, I prefer stock cords to either of these.
Not slow not sluggish at all. Beat the Audience "E" verison power cord. So that make Audience crap also then right? No the Audience was good, the AC 9 sounded better top to bottom.
I find it confusing why you have had such issues and many others have not. Must be back Vodoo or Karma in your system some where...smile!

Nothing wrong with that.I've had good experiences with them, but, I have pretty clean power coming from the wall, relatively speaking.
I wasn't expecting too much from them and maybe that's got something to do with my experience with them. I was suprised they weren't garbage though based on price and materials.

All my stereo stuff slides down in value as it get older...just like me.
It`s called INFLATION.
You can thank Mr Ben Bernanke and his money printing press :)
And as they gain market share, naturally they will raise prices to begin to make a profit. Balancing profit vs buzz, making a brand name for themselves...
I bought my first one for $100 (Nov. 2009), the second one was $119 (May 2010).
Still, I'm glad I bought them eary and saved a lot.
Whoo Hoo!!
The new Shunyata Venom3 power cord (1.5m - $99) is claimed to be the new reference for budget AC cords. I would at least say it's well worth its entry level price point, offering true big bang for the buck when placed on my new iMac (3.2GHz Intel Core i3, 4GB RAM, 1TB hard drive, 21.5-inch 16:9 widescreen 1920 x 1080 LED-backlit LCD display) functioning as computer audio digital transport. I believe it's a fine low-cost option for those on a strict budget and/or for placement on gear that benefits from a polite sounding, forgiving power cord that still provides an audiophile quality presentation.
The sonic signature strong points of the Venom3 are a nominally uncolored midrange, a smooth top end, controlled bottom end, and fine soundstage and imaging performance. The presentation of the Venom3 seems like what some folks might hope that an affordable Hospital Grade with molded ends power cord might provide (but won't), and goes a full sonic step forward.
The low-cost Venom3 sounds quite coherent, dynamic, and presents a level of transparency not expected at this price point. It's not a giant killer, but some may find it to be a fine slayer of humdrum and/or colored mid-fi level power cords. Look for a glowing report in The Absolute Sound: 2011 Buyers Guide.
Cheers, Duster
"It's not a giant killer, but some may find it to be a fine slayer of humdrum and/or colored mid-fi level power cords."
I kind of prefer giant killers relative to colored mid-fi. Did you intentionally temper you enthusiasm?
The term giant killer is a notion that's often not met in reality. Too often hype is involved in such a bold level of enthusiasm. The Venom3 is not a giant killer. It won't out-perform true giant killers such as the VH Audio AirSine power cord which is in a much higher (and pricier) league.
Yes, it's difficult to grasp a notion like giant killer if no example of a giant(VH Audio AirSine) is expressed.
When you say, "...some may find it to be a fine slayer of humdrum and/or colored mid-fi level power cords.", I think it would be helpful to identify them for the sake of clarity.
I don't like to put down specific cables. By humdrum and/or colored I would generalize the notion of power cords that fall short of satisfactorily delivering various audiophile listening cues, including coherancy and dynamics, and/or may emphasis and/or veil particular frequency regions, etc.
All cables and power cords for sure are system and gear depended. The AC9 could work extermely well with some gear than with others where it might not work as well.
I do own the AC 9 and it took a month to the burn it in and before that was slow and sluggish. then thin to forward then settled in between the two extremes.
It's not the best out there, but it is not garbage either. I love it on my video gear and on Plasma it really did well as good as my $$$$$ power cord did.
