Hi,
I like to get a pair of good interconnects, finished or DIY for under $180 US dollars to my 300B SET amp.
Some says two silver cables twisted with eichmann connectors, etc.
Hope someone can help me to get the right stuff.
regards
beto
Follow Ups:
...I'm using Chris Own's Analog Connect right now...$135. It gets the bass right.
I've been very happy with DH labs Air matrix in my system. I'm also continually amazed by the sound quality of the Element cable I'm using for my tuner.
I've owned two SET amps in the last few years and have found it best to stay with copper interconnects. I strongly recommend the Rega Couple ($150) - terrific even sound, flexible cable with really nice Neutrik connectors. Another copper contender is the Eichmann Express 4 for $120.

Hi all,
first, thanks for the inputs.
I like, theoretical, the low dialectric material aproach, like Audio Consulting twisted + Eichmann silver bullets and the Anticables.
I wonder if one of you have heard both.
I knew Audio Consulting wires, but never heard about anticables so I'm interested, of course. All others cables follow, I guess, some more common principles.

Beto
Steve Eddy's Q cables. Very sound design reasoning and minimalist design using a proprietary alloy and silk.
On the DIY domain, there is, at least, 3 pre selection:
-Anticable
-ChrisVH's DIY fine silver
-Audio Consulting twisted pairs. All 3 of them has a similar aproach and are opositte to the traditional design. I wonder if any of this has problems with RF or other interferences. Maybe a third run, not connected can work, as I have read before.
some of you have tried this 3, or at least 2 of them?
Regards,
Beto
Good question, beto. I've read that in some environments, unsheilded ICs can pick up RF interference. That's not the case in my environment, fortunately.AC's twisted pair helps reject RFI because of the twisted pair nature, just like unshielded network cabling, but it's not as foolproof as a real shield.
However, as jnorv points out, one can shield some of these designs, notably ChrisVH's and probably Audio Consulting. I'd think the anti-cables would be more difficult to shield, though not impossible.
The trick to shielding is to keep the shield as far away from the signal-carrying wires as possible. Using some form of spacer, as beto jnorv suggests, is the best way to do that.
Here's another recipe that mainly uses an air dielectric with a shield. I've not tried them, but I don't see why something like that wouldn't work with ChrisVH's design.
wire for my phono cables. I experimented with 26 ga copper magnet wire first and it is not bad. In my environment I had to go with shields, at least for daytime use. Nights were not to bad for RFI. What I settled out on was 28 ga silver wrapped around 3/8" foam backer rod terminated in Eichmann's. Extremely low capacitance, 25 pF for a 5 foot run. I found some 3/8 ID foam pipe insulation which I put around the cables and then wrapped it with aluminum foil and grounded it only at the preamp end. I am considering going to 9 pin D-Sub connectors on the end that plugs into my TT arm. If I could figure out a slick way to rewire my preamp, I would put in a D-Sub for the phono input there. Unfortunately the RCA's are hard wired into the PC board.
of the more expensive Ear to Ear interconnects (and was the designer's second set of ears in finalizing the design) but the entry IC (Red Label RCA) would be hard to beat at the price (listed in $CAN).I've included the link since the Web presence is new and it seems not to be DNS listed (i.e. can't locate via Google as yet).

Haven't heard Alex's interconnects yet, though I can vouch that the Black and Red power chords are excellent performers, top shelf build quality, and a good value. I sold my VHAudio Flavor 4's after several listening experiments. If the power cords are any indication, the interconnects should be very good.

The Black interconnect is IMHO a stellar performer, especially at the price which currently is only around $255US/m single ended ($320 XLR). I take some pleasure in being partially responsible for latest design as I was a bit of a detractor insisting that while very good the previous version needed some improvement (in particular I opted for Cardas Cross/Hexlink 5C over the earlier version). So stating last fall the push began to make an improvement and I was so pleased with the result that I've now made the switch.Of course I'm not about to let Alex rest on his laurels, and in fact I got a chuckle when gauging his reaction when I asked him recently "Ok, what's next?". I guess after improving the line (the enhancement to the IC proved to be applicable to the speaker cables and power cords) and getting the site up he figured he could rest his heels a bit, HA!, forget it! In fact I was able to apply a good bit of heat when informing him of how a Cardas Golden Reference (XLR) beat the most recent E2E in a friend's system. Of course one can very nearly wire an entire system with E2E ICs for the cost of a single Golden Reference but that hardly matters, the seed for what will no doubt become a burning bush has been planted!
Mr. Google can't seem to find a web site for E2E. Someone please post the url. Thanks.
It's the wierdest thing, type "ear to ear cables" into Yahoo and it finds it but Google doesn't!

'nuff said... take the extra $30 and buy music.
Audio Art Cable IC-3's.
Well broken in and used per directions.
Check out: homegrownaudio.comYou can get their excellent and very reasonable silver cables at an incredible price in either kit form or prebuilt.
I built their IC-4 and IC-8 cables and am blown away with the results. Whether you want to build them yourself or get them prebuilt, you owe it to yourself to check them out. You have a choice of connectors, including Eichmann. And if you order their prebuilt, you have a 30 day trial period.
I've been using HGA cables for years and still love them! I also use their 22awg silver wire for rewiring projects.

Some people object to silver, saying it sounds thin or even shrill. In that way, silver, especially fine-gauge stuff, can offset the thicker, less controlled sound tubes can have (especially in the bass) without messing with their magical midrange.Of course, in your application, it may sound different.
IME, the small gauge fine silver ICs work great in either SS or tube applications, my original Adcom gear through better Wright/AI/Jolida/McCormack stuff.

Or you could use the Jupiter silver Parts Connexion sells. I've been trying out PCOCC cables over the past little while, and when I put my VH silver DIY back into my system, I realized it's way, way better than the super copper stuff. YMMV, but for me it's a very fine IC.
Hi,
do you have compared Audio Consulting vs VH silver wire to build the VH fine silver interconnect (or any othe IC)?
Best regards,
Beto
They list for over your target but routinely auction on A'gon and ebay for around $150.00
Hi,
Try the Oritek X-1s. Great cables; much better than anything close to the price! $199 for 1 meter and $179 for .6 meter.http://members.aceweb.com//orim/audio/OritekAudio/products.html
26AWG Audioconsulting silver wire with cotton sleeves in a twisted pair has worked great for me. Reference Audio Mods sells it.
I would say these LC-1 fit that:
