Just wanted to know if the rumor that was going around about Bob Crump passing away is true or not? Anyone know him? Anyway to find out?Don't want to start anything here, just want to know if the rumor is true or not..
Hopefully not.
Follow Ups:
i'm not usually without words, but... i'm just stunned.bob was such a great guy. his legend will live on.
Very sad news. Bob was a great guy. I had a pleasure talking with him on the phone a number of times, last time on November 9. I do not know of anybody who would share his trade secrets as Bob did. I guess he will never fill my outstanding power cord order...
over in Inmate Central, linked below.I hope you'll all be able to make it!
Hearing of Bob's passing is like a punch in the stomach. No one surpassed his passion for high end audio. His enthusiasm was infectious and his humor unsurpassed. He turned me on to the JC-1s, which I believe is a true “statement” product and I’m sure will remain a cornerstone of my system for many years. His SLVR power cords lead to my resignation from the Power-Cord-Of-The-Month Club. Unfortunately, I was one cord short for my system and procrastinated too long in ordering it. One assumes that such a giant (in size and spirit) of a man will simply be around forever.
It is truly a sad day.

(Bob, you have many friends)
Visit Bob's Inmate Picture Gallery here:
now that Bob has passed, you can't buy his interconnects at any price. First thing this morning, I emailed two classified adds on Agon that I would buy their ICs and SLVR power cord. No answer. The guy with three used sheilded ICs vanished from Agon. The power cord vendor says sold. Bob made great cords, and was a fab guy to me. I will miss him.
It sounds like those of you who knew him all came away richer for the experience. To his friends, I am very sorry for your loss.
Thanks for all your help Bob, you made my system sound better and me a little smarter about audio. I won't forget our conversations of good & evil either!Farewell good old friend, you will be missed!!
Bob was very generous with his ideas and his help in implementing them, based on years of experience and experimenting. That can't be said for many people here in our hobby. Everyone want to be an expert but few really qualify, and those that do generally want $ for their time. Deserved $, no doubt, but for some this is a hobby of love. Bob was obviously enamored with this hobby and shared his knowledge generously.Bob helped so many and was well regarded for it by all who benefitted by their association with this great man. He will most certainly be missed.
May he rest in peace.

I've corresponded with Bob and he was always warm, accomodating and infinitely generous with his time and ideas. I have corresponded with many people whom I don't personally know but very few come across as friendly (and as full of wisdom) as Bob instantly did. I wish I could have met him person. The music world was a little less warm when the great Ella Fitzgerald passed away, and now our audio world is the same without Bob.Thanks for your time and wisdom Bob. You will be missed but memories of you and your ideas will be with us until we ourselves join ya in the great beyond ...
The folks at Empirical Audio will miss him. We saw him each year at the "Crumpfest" at CES. Someone needs to carry the baton to have a place for the inmates to gather at CES now.Bob was kind enough to give me tips on mods to one of the Parasound amps, and he arranged for some great live music at CES as well. Good memories.

If this is true, it's sad indeed. Bob was an excellent fellow, and a good e-mail friend. Shame I didn't get to spend more time with him in person. We did chat an awful lot about various tweaks and whatnot, and shall be missed.
This is a very sad day then, if it is true. I'd like to send my my condolences to Bob's family. I was fortunate enough to meet him at the 2004 CES, and he was a very gracious, outstanding person. He will be missed by many.
Bob was the real deal. His experiments, advocations, and perspectives were true advancements to the audiophile community. He was also a kind ally who supported other's efforts in AA. I will miss him, and feel a heart-heavy loss.
Norm, Chris, Scott and All,Please let me add my sentiments and condolences to Bob's family, friends and associates - John, Tony and all the dealers and customers who have had the pleasure to work with Bob.
I will never forget the man that convinced me that AC cords and selective parts can make a very big difference in this hobby ... nor will I forget that big scratchy voice and sense of humor that were so much a part of the man.
From that first (very lengthy phone call - more due to Bob's generosity and passion, than any knowledge or curiosity that I held) ... to the receipt of that first pair of Goldstein AC cords ... to my wife's amazement when I added the cords to a pair of VAC 90 amps - "Wow, what did you just do - that sounds great!"?
Over the years, Bob led me to the G&D products, his modded Entec Number Cruncher DAC, the line and Bybee Suckers, Eagle outlets, pointy thangs and of course, his great cords ... even his secret discovery of a wonderful inexpensive digital cable that ultimately led to the creation of his ICs and speaker cables.
Bob, I look forward toward the next time we share a bit of Bubba's Bar-b-Que. I hope the dam repair business is prosperous where you now reside!
Rest-in-peace my ... no, our friend.
Scott
Sad to hear. Bob was a great guy, and though I haven't spoken to him in many years, I still remember him as one of the legends of audio. I bought power cords from him, he made me a custom DC umbilical cord for my spectral pre that sounded so good (along with his AC cords) that it allowed me to keep the units (when I thought of selling them) I also bought a custom wired Techlabs volume control for that same Spectral pre - what a huge difference it made and was reasonably priced.
I was so taken aback that I neglected to ask any more about it. Hopefully, John Curl will post more about his partner.

Bob was one of the true originals of this hobby, and a hell of a nice human being.RIP, Bob. Build your last Blowtorch for the gang up there, and heaven will be complete.
