Hi AllI have not posted in a while but the upgrade bug has bitten again. While all is system dependent has anyone actually compared the flava of these two brands....will be used in a tube based system, pre to power amp....
Follow Ups:
I used to own the Chimera Labs Advantage II ICs. Ran 2 pair between cd and pre and pre and amp. Very nice cable, open, dynamic with decent bass.I replaced the Chimera with Pulsars with Nextgen RCAs. In my sytem the Pulsars were a clear step up. Better highs, Midrange more forward and preferred in my setup. Also much better bottom end and definition in the bass. Much more open sounding, lifting of the proverbial veil.
Your mileage may vary. Both are excellent examples of designs that can easily go head to head with commercial designs costing quite a bit more.
While I am not familiar with the Chimera Labs 2, I have not experienced the Pulsar as being component or system dependant other than in a system that was somewhat skewed and favored a more lush sounding interconnect. The Pulsar also reponds very well to various rca connector choices.
duster thanks for the reply....do you mean that the pulsars do not respond well to a lush system....or mate well with them?
No, I meant that the system was too lean so a lush sounding cable was more satisfactory. The Pulsar is quite neutral, so it sounded lean in that particular system.
