I'm building a passive pre and have a couple questions.
I have two inputs going to a dpdt switch to the volume pot to the output jacks. The positive and ground connect fine to the dpdt. I'm unclear as to how the "grounds" connect from the dpdt. This also is the issue as to how to ground the output jacks which lead to my amp.
Thanks for any help and guidence.

I would not ground any of the RCA jacks to the chassis.
thanks for the response. Does this mean that there is no negative/ground wiring from the volume pot to the output RCAs?
"Does this mean that there is no negative/ground wiring from the volume pot to the output RCAs?"
The squiggly line represents the volume pot. The arrow represents the "wiper". The "top" of the pot goes to the DPDT switch and the "bottom" of the pot goes to the output RCA jacks "ground" lead and to the DPDT switch "ground".
I generally find that most RCA jacks need a narrow strip of electricians tape wound around the threaded bit where it goes through the hole in the chassis to ensure insulation from the chassis. A shoulder washer works better if you can find one to fit. In the end the best RCA jacks are the Amphenol ACJD which are shielded and insulated. Unfortunately, they need a 24mm hole which is much larger than the standard "audiophile grade" jack.
But do make sure that the knob on the volume pot is a dielectric, and that the pot is also isolated from the chasis - so that when you adjust it- you do not introduce a different ground loop...
Happy listening
thanks. Is isolating as simple as using a nylon washer or other such thing?
Yes, a nylon washer will work, you may wish to use a shouldered washer to ensure that the shaft is insulated through the hole...
