I just noticed you also have the center channel, you might also consider a high quality multichannel amp like the ATI 6000 signature, this amp is a beast and can be provided with 2 to 7 channels, and if you buy with less than 7 it can be expanded later.
Levinson has some discontued models like the 433 if you consider used.
Theta also has a newmultichannel using Class D but I haven't heard it.
You will want power for those speakers.
I like the Pass X series, but my friend with Salon 2s fell in love with the PBN amplifier.
He has worked his way up the line and owns the monos, pre and Dac.
If you prefer something a little tubey, maybe a set of Red Dragon Leviathons.
Happy hunting.

My friend drives his with a 532H Levinson and another friend drives his Salon 2's with the same amp but one on each speaker biamped. The friend using one amp has a large open room/area and the 532H does a good job. We've played anything from Classical to Jazz to Classic type Rock. I've also heard them with other Levinson like the 433.
I 2nd the Pass recommendation, magic with my F52's. I personally find the Pass warmer, more full and musical than the Levinson while still delivering the power and control.
With Levinson I've not found the S2's tweeters fatiguing as long as the source was good. He's used several digital sources. Both Levinson & Revel will be honest about the upstream signal.
You might also look at Coda amps. The Salon 2's definitely like the current of a good solid state amp.
Owning a pr of Revel F52's all I can say is PASS. I have the 250.5 and it drives them superbly real control on the bass, very nice mids and smooth highs.
My advice look for the Pass X600 or 350.5 or now the 350.8
Remember when not flooring it those amps run in class A
Don't go with the XA series as the X series runs in class A up to 30% of the rated power. And having the extra 100's of watts when you need them is imperative.
Those will be my next speaker.
Hi everyone,
I am in the market for a new system, and I am drawn to the Revel speakers. I love the Studio 2's with a Rogers High Fidelity EHF-200 MK2 amp (tubes), though I think that with some music a subwoofer improves (for me) the overall sound. My new room is quite large (22 feet wide by 24 feed deep, with the entrance on one side adding another 10 feet of depth) so I have thought that the Salon 2's might be a better choice. I went to the Harman showroom in NYC to hear the Salons and the Studios, and actually preferred the Studios, but my local dealer now has the Salons in stock so I am going to do a test of each this week. The two channel system matters most to me, but it will be part of a 5.1 AV setup for movies. I've put Revel speakers in the ceiling behind the viewing area, and plan to get a Voice 2 for the middle speaker and that bigass Revel subwoofer.
Here's my question: I love the sound of the Rogers tube amp with the Studios, but if I go for the Salons, I'm worried that the amp may not have enough power. Would I need to get a solid state amp to power the Salons, and if so, will the music lose the voice and soul that I so love much in the Rogers / Studio 2 combination?
I'll be listening to the speakers and some different amps at my dealer's this week. Harman has offered me an extra deal if I buy by the end of the month (June) so I'll be trying to make up my mind this week. You guys sound great, and I'd welcome any input or suggestions that you can make.
Thanks!
A friend of mine uses the 220 wpc Lamm M2.2 hybrid monoblocks with his Salon 2 speakers. He says the sound is great. (I've not had a chance to hear them yet, as he lives a fair distance away.) Another friend uses the same Lamm amps with his Rockport Antares, and I've heard that system many times, and it is one of the very best I've heard ever. (In fact, we've compared several amps to the Lamms, including the DarTZeel NB-108, the Manley Neoclassic 250s, the VTL MB-450s, and the only one that comes close to the sound is the VAC Phi 300.1 stereo amp, which I consider the equal to the M2.2s).
I use the predecessor to the Lamm M2.2s, (the 200 wpc Lamm M2.1 hybrid monoblock amps), with my Eggleston Andra II speakers, and except for a slight bit of darkness in the top end, I am incredibly happy with the results. (FYI: The M2.2 eliminated this small bit of darkness.) I should point out that I used these same Lamm amps with my previous speakers, the Revel Studios, (original version), and they took the sound to a much higher level of refinement than the Levinson No. 23 stereo amp that preceded them.
My two cents worth.
Good Luck in your search!
Thank you sooooo much Radarman! I have just looked at the Lamm 2.2's on a couple of sites and it is well reviewed. Was the system driven only w/ the Lamm's or bi-amped? My space is quite large for a home area and @ 86db the S2's will need alot of good clean power for my weekly high spl night....LOL.
The rest of the week will be lower level listening.
Can I ask what genres of music you have heard them played with and at what levels?
Do you think, like others that have commented, that the combo of class A for the mid/high and Class A/B for the bass management is a good direction to pursue? Or do you consider the 2.2's to be sufficient for my scenario?
Thanks Again
Cheers

If you don't mind I have another question. Does anyone really know what the what the separate ratings are for the bass and also for the mid/high for S2's. I requested this from Revel and only got back that the whole speaker starts to get going @ 500W. No answer on the separate requirement question.
I have heard them once. This was with Lev' No.53's and at med to high volume, in a large residence/room similar to mine and they still seemed hungry. Not saying anything bad about the sound or Lev....they just seemed to want more at moderate to high spl in a very well treated/dampened room w/no subs.
Hence my thoughts to powerfully bi-amp but with lots of bass management and a little warmer on top to compensate for the good but cool beryllium tweet'.
Yeehah!
Thanks Again

Hey NuTreez69,Well, I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability.
(FYI, I have forwarded a link of this thread to my friend with the Salon 2 speakers and the Lamm M2.2s, so hopefully he'll provide some input, which will be first hand experience versus my second hand experience.)First, he only uses the M2.2s, and does not bi-amp. His room is rather large, as it is a probably 12 feet wide and 25 feet long, with really high ceilings. (And there is a another area off to the side which further increases the volume of the room.) He prefers listening at very loud sound levels, (as does my other friend with the M2.2s), and I have never heard any clipping, or graininess, or even a hint of less refined sound when cranked up. (This is one of the reasons we all like the Lamm hybrid amps.)
Second, he typically listens to jazz, with a bit of classical and vocals mixed in. (He is not really into rock, as I am. However, my M2.1s will crank pretty high in my room, (16' x 24'), with my Andra II speakers.)
As far as your other questions, I am not really capable of answering them. (I'd rather say "I don't know", than to guess or give you a BS answer.)
Well, good luck, and I hope my friend can help you out.
PS I should point out that the hybrid Lamms are really more of a solid state amp than a tube amp. (They only have one 6922 tube in the driver stage - the input and output stages are handled via solid state design.) And I should also point out that the amps will sound considerably better if you use some NOS tubes in them. (Luckily tube rolling is rather inexpensive as there are only two tubes!) If you're looking for a truly tube sounding amp, I highly recommend the VAC Phi 300.1 The bass is not quite a good, (as expected from a 150 wpc stereo tube amp), but the mid-range and treble is fantastic. If you have the money, you can buy two of them, and use them as 300 wpc monoblocks, and (according to what I've heard), this will provide rock solid bass response!

Thanks Raiderman. Look forward to Lamm 2,2 contact. I will also look at two Vac 300

...and they sounded very good. Of course they are both part of the Madrigal organization, so this would be expected.
Other thoughts: Spectral, Wyred 4 Sound, upper Bryston amps, Parasound JC1, or H2O Audio Amps (see below)...
Steve
Thanks again! Have you heard the Bryston 28b w/ S2's?
I have been told that the S2's require well managed bass and lots of it.
Also that the beryllium tweeter prefers warm vs cool for "non-fatigue" -
Class A on top and decent A/B bottom.
All the advise is great!

The Salon 2's have a similiar load as my Avalon Eidolons but I think they may be a bit more difficult to drive being a four way and without a power rating.
I would suggest you look into Sanders Sound and ask about their audition offer for the Magtech amplifier. This is a very powerful and stable solid state amplifier with a unique design and said to sound sweet for this amount of power.

Thanks VIC!!!! I will also check out Sanders link
Sincere regards again and thanks fir all the advise.

Read 4425's response to my, what kind of speakers do they use, question. Also note the gear he was using.

Thanks Vic! I will read very soona s work settles down a bit.

I would say use a high powered / high quality SS amp per speaker. I have Salon 2s and I power them with Music Fidelity 550ks. Very nice and dynamic.
It would be interesting to know what your present amplification is.
Thank you! I do not have any gear yet except for speakers.
I will check MW Kw. Thanks for the response.
