I have been looking at this tube amp from Einstein audio. The absolute tune !http://www.einstein-audio.de/english/products/AbsoulteTune_eng.html
I have heard how it sounds. Tube input stage and solid output stage. Well thought out design. Sounds heavenly. The catch – i cannot afford it.
Are there such hybrid amps out there which do not cost so much money but sounds as good ? I am looking at 50 watts or thereabouts per channel.

Not an integrated, but if you'd consider pairing a power amp with a preamp, I'd highly recommend a Butler 2250. Just got mine back after the repair of some UPS-caused damage, and just loving the sound. 6moons review will give you a strong overview of the amp's design and sound.
I know that the early ASL Hurricanes had a host of issues but by now any set still working has been sorted out. Just use quality old stock tubes that can take that circuit as it runs the tubes hot. The sound quality from either, Jadis or ASL, would be competitive.

There's one for sale at Audiogon, see link. Reasonably priced.
I have one, and it does sound fantastic. It sounds best with Siemens 6922s.

Do they use a 'traditional' Class A or AB solid-state output stage, or a Class D switching amp module? Who's module do they use, B&O IcePower, Hypex, Tripath, etc. Thanks.
They use only N-Mosfets in the output stage in a true balanced parallel push pull design. Essentially, its an OTL circlotron done with Mosfets instead of tubes. Of course it uses tubes on the input. Basically the Einstein "Light in the Dark" is the same with a bit more power and not integrated. Sounds pretty darn good as I now have one myself (The integrated that is).
I believe its A/B, somewhat heavily biased into A. It runs much warmer than most A/B SS amps. Fastest sounding amp I've ever owned. Best bass too.

There is an Einstein integrated on Audiogon at this moment. I think the seller wants $ 5,200.00. I know the seller, the unit is very lightly used and it is in wonderful condition.
The Einstein costs around $10K.
Blue Circle Audio has two integrated amps, the DAR at around $3300 and the FtTH2 at around $6200. I've heard both. The FtTh2 is a thing of beauty, a mixture of engaging and natural sound. The DAR is a step down, sonically, and warmer, but a great amp for the price.
Observe, before you think
the BAT 300x-SE is the best I've owned/heard. More than double the power you're looking for too... Used can be had under 3k.
Well, I have the Einstein "The Absolute Tune" and you are right about its sound. There are a couple of possibilities that cost a lot less and maybe don't sound AS good but still sound very good.
The first choice would be the Monarchy Audio SE250 or SE160 monos. Much cheaper and very good sounding. Couple those with the Monarchy Audio NM24 DAC/Preamp and away you go.
Other options would be the Pathos Classic One or the TT (only 30 watts or so but it might be enough and sounds really good)
If you can find one...the Joule Electra VAMP is another good choice.
Hi,
There are old Hafler Amplifiers (the ones with Mosfet outputs like the DH-220) which can be purchased comparably cheaply and can be easily converted into Hybrids. Villefort Audio does such work.
You can find details over at diyaudio.com if you search for hafler and hybrid...
Then you could see if the guy has any for sale...

Tube input stage, Hypex ucd switching, and a massive power supply. Until you actually compare this to a conventional solid state/tube hybrid yourself don't pass judgment regarding the class D section.
I just heard the Medusa driving Vandersteen Quatro's. Like most top shelf switching amplifiers and unlike a 200 watt solid state there is absolutly no congestion as the demand increases. While it can never be mistaken for an all tube amplifier the input stage and the Hypex ucd has a huge affect on the typical class D presentation. Much easier listening yet still transparent.
