I have a Decware Zen Triode Select from 2003 (3 1/2 - 4 watts total), and I'm looking for a synergistic match in terms of a tube preamp. Currently I'm using a Pioneer SX-838 as a preamp, but in that capacity it's being grossly underutilized. The Decware could, ostensibly, be used without one, but I'd like a tad bit more volume and a balance control is necessary, at least until I get my ears cleaned again. Any suggestions?

Line 2A SE is what I have (had Dr. Peppard upgrade the caps to Blackgate) and I love it. Nicely subjective to tube rolling. Can run 6SN7 tubes or their less expensive 12SN7 versions. Separate PS, point-to-point wiring, separate channel gains with single overall control, customized gain per channel (discuss with Dr. Peppard as per your requirements), excellent customer serice. Brand new for < $1k. He has other models as well.
I have two of these, no relation to seller:
