Upgrading this vintage amplifier. Any recoomendation for replacing the
the two volume pots left and right channel on th control board.
Is it worth the money and time ?
Suggsetion for replacement ?
Follow Ups:
The stock control is a log type, it is too touchy for setting crossover levels.
Does not understand "to touchy for setting crossover levels" ? What does it mean. Please, my english seams not to be as good as I wish.Would you not recommend to replace these with a newer 20k logaritmic type?
The amp is in part now and would like to do all replacement/updates.

"The stock control is a log type, it is too touchy for setting crossover levels."
A log pot at 50% rotation is -20dB, a linear is -6dB.
If you need a fine degree of adjustment over a small range (as when adjusting levels with an electronic crossover) it is easier to use the linear. I was using a passive line-level crossover with no adjustments, so I needed better control than the stock pot offered.
Any recommendation for a volume potentiometer as replacement for the original Altec 9440A, 20k potentiometer ?
Sorry, no.
Any possible replacement will have to be checked for a mechanical fit, the power switch is another tight fit part (fortunately they don't often fail).
