Greetings! I am a long time audio nut having owned most everything made prior to 1980.......I have had a special fondness for tube stuff.
I bought a couple of ASL wave 25 monos off CL a couple of weeks ago.I had never heard of ASL before.....admit to being out of touch w/ modern stuff.
Anyway, one of the amps wasn't working. On a whim-I bought them anyway as they looked cool. One of the 6L6's had blown and took out a resistor and the bias control with it.
I got the amp back today and hooked it up to my Vandy 2CE's.
Holy Cow !!! I am in shock !. These little guys are impressive.
I have had MC-30's and a D79 before.....and for the $...... these are impressive indeed.
Probably going to get a Matched Quad set of 6L6's as I dont trust the other ASL tubes--or whoever made them.
I see Electro Harmonics seems to be recommended in several places.

While I have never heard Wave 25's,I Have been using a pair of Wave 8's with an ARC SP16 to drive Zu Omens (which suit these amps well with a roughly 12 ohm impedance) in my "Summer/Warm weather" system as 4 6BM8's don't generate much heat. Even though I was well acquainted with the 6BM8 from my Elekit TU-870R office system and expected to like them, the sound from these little amps floored me. I liked them so much I bought a second pair as a backup. This was probably a good idea as the service support from Divergent is virtually nonexistent based on past experience with an ASL MG SI 15 DT.
You are so right about Divergent. Tosh Goka (or what ever her name is) highly discouraged me not to send a couple of '8s I wanted worked on. I was willing to pay whatever duties, fees, tarriffs and such but basically she told me "NO." and almost to the point of "Hell no!"
Tosh Goka is a "He" and the Head of Reference 3A which also offers a tube amp(s). Good guy.
but at this point it's immaterial for me. It was his/her attidtude that was the turn-off.
Sounds identical to my experience with my MGSI15DT. They basically refused to repair it saying they would email me the schematic which they never did. Too bad, but supposedly the story is this type of attitude is what got Kevin Deal (Upscale Audio) involved with PrimaLuna to replace ASL's place in his product offerings.
Nice. If you really want to take them to the next level, then get a hold of Bill at Response Audio as he specializes in modding ASL, Jolida, and Ming Da among others.
........I was a vegetarian for 15 minutes... until the main course.
