What experience do people have with Quicksilver amps (especially the V4's and the Triodes) with Merlin speakers?
Follow Ups:
I haven't heard any Quicksilver's, but from their reputation I would think it would be a nice match. I like the fact the V4 allows you to use a variety of output tubes. Some might think having so much power is a waste, but best I've ever heard my speakers (VSM-MM) sound was with a similar pair of Conrad Johnson Premier 12 monoblocks. The soundstage was huge! Merlins can sound really big and powerful with large tube amps.
That was a prototype. The V4 will sound good on accurate speakers. It is Not euphoric sounding at all. It is not really even on the warm side. Why do you need all that power, though? Are the Merlins tough to drive? Remember, tube amps with output transformers act like voltage devices. Current does NOT increase when the impedance drops.
