RE: Dr. Edward Teller explains Relativity on lp

Hi, Karl:

Thanks very much for your reply to my posting about Dr. Teller.

Just before I attended the University of California, Berkeley (1966-1970), Dr. Teller was well known for teaching the very most basic course in Physics, which was called "Physics 10".

These "10"-series courses were designed mostly for non-science majors, i.e., folks in the humanities, such as myself, who had to take certain courses in order to graduate. This was called the "breadth" requirement in the sixties.

So, I missed out on Teller in Physics 10, but folks told me what he was like and chuckled a lot.

The recording I mentioned is an absolute scream to hear. Dr. Teller emphasises certain words and almost shouts them at times, because he obviously got excited during his discourse.

I know that he was obviously reading from a prepared script, but you have the impression that he was quite "off the cuff" in some of his remarks.

I am just grateful to have access to this and just arranged to send a transcription copy (cdr) to a fellow I just met over in San Francisco who has an interesting private collection of Atomic-Era artifacts, and this includes original documentation by some military witnesses to the first A-Bomb tests, etc.

I anticipate that he is just going to flip over this recording!

Once again, my thanks!
