1. What is the DL103's compliance? - see below
2. How much does the DL103 weigh? - 8.5 g
3. What is the recommended tracking force? - 2.5gThe compliance of 5 x 10exp(-6) cm/dyne quoted for the Denon DL 130 on its internet site
http://elec.denon.co.jp/japan/products_d.html
is the Dynamic Compliance. My Data sheet for the DL 103 doesn't give the static compliance.
To calculate the arm resonance you need to use the static compliance. The data sheet for the DL103s gives both static and dynamic compliance figures.
Static. 25 x 10exp(-6) cm/dyne
Dynamic 8 x 10exp(-6) cm/dyneThe data sheets for other cartridges of mine also show an approximate 3 to 1 ratio, between static and dynamic compliance. So I would estimate that the static compliance for the DL103 is about 15 x10exp(-6) cm/dyne. This will give a much lower arm resonance frequency.
Note also that the Denon DL103 is very underdamped which means it has a very sharp resonance peak - the cartridge can wobble violently at resonance frequency. You might like to try the optional fluid damper with the SME arm to tame this.
I am considering the SME 3009-R, for a Thorens TD 160s, so I would be interested to read your findings.
Regards,
Brian.
PS 1 x 10exp(-6) cm/dyne = 1 mm/N (a much better unit)
