Like Goober58, I was just going to listen to a few minutes to see if it was worth watching and ended up watching the entire video. There's a bit of mutual appreciation going on but it's well deserved. I learned a lot about the evolution of modern vinyl and some new things about vinyl pressings as well. Also had a good laugh at some of the old photos, especially Michael Fremer showing how to correctly hold a CD. :-)
One thing that caught my attention was the "flat profile" discussion. So why did pressing plates end up with a sloped profile? Was the lacquer flat and cut flat? If so, where in the process did we end up with a sloped stamper profile?
I have to admit that 45 RPM LPs are great, but I just don't like having to flip LPs so often. I can live with the sound quality of standard 33.33 RPM LPs.
