I did not get on well with at all with the original Linn EKOS but I am doing ok with the EKOS SE/1. The only reason I changed the arm in the main rig is that I could no longer manual cue. Tho I still use the ARO in my office rig with a Tiger Paw Elevator ( specifically designed for ARO )
EKOS SE tracks better and less coloured than ARO. But gone is a certain feel of an intimacy and fluidity. Great with a complex classical music, tho. It sails through orchestra tutti where ARO lost a composure entirely in the past.
ARO's tracking is iffy at best and very coloured. Yet it's forgiving enough that I can use with almost any cartridges so long as over 5g. Great for jazz and intimate vocals or chamber material. Often accused of not enough bass tho I never felt that way.
