Finally had to pull the "In Case Of Columbia" switch today

Columbia has a mostly undeserved reputation for over-brightness due, I'm certain, to their 2-Eye releases. Most of mine are Masterworks and there are a few bright recordings there but for the most part it's the 2s.

I call the toggle on my Cinemag SUT that because switching from the 37.5 Ohm position to the 150 not only attenuates the signal but filters some high frequencies. Raising the gain on the system to that of the 37.5 Ohm position does not restore the over-brightness.

The AIQ is Columbia MS-6016 as shown"

The opening phrase of the Grieg has a very percussive note in the last upper octave of the piano that just exploded in my ears. So I pulled the lever. My ZYX R-50 cartridge has a very low internal impedance which seems to match up well with 99 and 44/100ths% of recordings with the Cinemags at 37.5 Ohms.

Capacitors filter low level signals in the bass. Does increasing reistance do the same for highs?
