I was shopping for wire for a cable project at VH Audio and stumbled across this. Cheap enough, I thought, and Chris sells only quality items on his site, so I ordered one. Sat on the shelf for almost a month because, well, I honestly forgot about it until I noticed it sitting there on Saturday, so I stuck it on the cartridge. Right on top of the Koetsu body, as the front of the cartridge protrudes far enough out from the headshell there was room for it. Spun up some familiar discs and gave a listen. I wasn't really expecting anything. I had one of the Synergistic PHT's, and try as I might, I couldn't hear a dang thing different with it in place. Love their fuses, but the PHT was a dud....for me. Was going to return it until I couldn't find it. :( Anyway, I do hear differences with the Quantum Chip, and all positive. More low-level harmonic info, more distinct microdynamics, a bit sweeter on the top end (but not rolled), more ambience. and overall just a little more revealing of the info contained in the recording. This is not one of those "Oh My Gawd" kinda things, it's one of those "for $10 I'm happy" kinda things. And no, I didn't adjust VTF. The chip weighs .02 grams on my Cartridge Man scale, and I figured with that little additional weight I'd get a bigger variance just messing with the VTF to begin with.
Has anybody else tried one? Be interested in others experiences and maybe help convince myself I'm only half crazy.
